Yamaha MT-09 vs Honda CB1000R - RACE!

Met up with the squad for some fun. Hunter and squared up with his CB1000R vs my Yamaha MT-09. Talk about evenly matched! These bikes are incredible!

Vs an older CB1000R they certainly will be similar. CB only makes a little more power but weighs more, the only advantage the CB will have is once you both pass 130 mph, the i4’s top end and longer gearing will allow it to start to pull away. The newer models a MT09 will hang right with the new one, especially since the CB’s mid range has been neutered by emissions. A flash on the new CB models though and we’re talking 140~ whp and a massive 20 ft lb of torque gain from 4500-6500 rpm where they killed fueling to meet emissions for fuel economy. In a straight line beyond 100 mph the newer Honda CB1000’s will really pull away. MT09 will hang right with it until then though. The newest CB generation also makes 11~ more whp stock vs stock and weighs 15 lbs less then this older model…

CB1000R so much better bike to ride though. If you run full exhaust with air filter power commander and proper mapping it will most likely be faster than MT09.

Not sure if your flash addressed it, but second gear on the CP3s are dialed way back on fueling until like 6k RPMs. Most likely due to emissions and noise requirements.

As soon as I saw "Honda CB1000R" I knew it was going to be a Hunter Honda race. Only disappointment, I was expecting a 360 camera video

He wasn’t fully cranking the cb1000r - I’m faster than a new 09sp on a ten year old cb1000r by a little margin, but it’s there, you have to rag it though and he was changing too early

I don't think stock MT can beat CB. I have cat delete on my CB, k&n air filter and Bazzaz ZFi fuel controler + dyno tuning to adjust fueling and result is 133hp at the wheel. For me I would not even compare those two. CB is way better bike but if you are wheelie happy MT is for you :D
