Firebase is a really powerful tool, but too many cloud functions, random code and lack of structure can really hurt your app as it grows. Adding an API to the mix will bring structure to your app and increase testability massively. And as always, my go-to language is Python!

Great video and great tutorial. I have a question. Watching that I was thinking how I will do the same thing if I were in the same situation and I was thinking isn't it better to use Edge functions as your database is already using Supabase. You can build an API endpoint using Edge functions as well. Will that be not even easier? Thanks. Keep up the good work!

Great videos, very helpful. For the backend is the Python code running as set of serverless/stateless api calls, or is it running as a more stateful server type of app? And what are the costs for this approach? I noticed that you use GCP for the starter kit, but you mentioned another provider in a different video, are there any benefits to either?
