I learned Framer in exactly the same way. I bought a template that looked close to what I was after, and then over a period of a few days, threw most of it away and extended it even further. Once you get the CMS nailed, that's when things really take off.

Thanks man. I avoided templates at first because I thought that they would be low quality at first but I find them actually quite good. I have had bad experience with templates in figma but framer has SO much more quality templates.
