This movie seems to have such inspirational and emotional heartfelt dialogue, spoken by both Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner. I can't remember if I read it or heard it in a trailer, but I vaguely recall Martha at some point telling Clark to "be a superman."

My theory is zod sends Lois to the phantom zone and Clark goes in after her, sort of like Hercules in the animated movie. When he comes back from the zone, he sees jor-el. In his head, telling him how to finish the job/zod.

i think there's this one comic where there is a hologram and certain zone (not sure) where superman can see krypton and his parents. i think that's what's going on here. warner bros and russel crowe confirmed he doesn't survive but idnt think theyd screw up the source material that bad.
