How to create CUSTOM MUSIC for Mario Kart Wii in 2023! (Works with Dolphin and CTGP)

This video is a guide on how to create your own custom music via the use of brstm files and the My Stuff folder feature. This guide works with CTGP and mods with Dolphin Emulator.

EDIT 27/3/23: On Koopa Cape, if you follow the instructions layed out in chapters 2 and 2.1, you may hear the land part of the song while in the river part. To fix this, replace tracks 7 & 8 with silence, making sure they are the same length as the normal tracks, then follow the rest of the instructions as normal.

Thanks for the tutorial! FYI, you can just do "change speed" in Audacity, which will change both speed and tempo at the same time (that way it's one less step).

I honestly like the fact that dolphin has a riivo feature now, pre-dolphin riivolution you had to use wit to extract the mario kart wii game, go into sounds, replace the songs you wanted and then rebuild the game if you were using usbloader, but you had to rip apart the game EVERY TIME u wanted to replace songs and it was truly… a lot. Just so grateful for the riivo feature + and to have a mkwii disc

Nice tutorial! It allowed me to remember how to make multi-channel BRSTM after not making one for years.

Just something I'd like to point out: I found that the value of "LoopStartSample" from BrawlBox doesn't always match the value of the actual start of the loop, for some reason. To get the multi-channel builder to get the beggining of the loop right, I had to copy the value I set as the start when editing the file in BrawlBox BEFORE ENCODING IT.

I dont know if this old new but I kind of figured out Wii Bowser Castle

1/2- anything besides the shaking hall
1/2/3/4 - Mecha Bowser section til the end of the geysers
5/6 - The shaking hallway
7/8 - still unknown

An interesting thing with the mecha bowser section is that 1/2 may be hard to hear. 3/4 will lower its volume sometime through so you can 1/2 better.

About Bowser's Castle, MrBean35000vr has a really old video where he successfully created a multi channel BRSTM for it and according to him it only has 6 channels, where channels 3, 4, 5, and 6 are the same. The vid shouldn't be hard to search up, and I haven't been able to confirm any of this, but he knows his stuff so maybe someone else can do something with that information. Though I do know that the wavy bridge is one of the places where the music changes, and apparently in the halfpipe area in front of the giant bowser as well.

You can make it loop to a certain part if your song starts a bit after the first second
Like the stuff you want to loop forever starts 15 seconds after starting judt drag the bar when importing the WAV

I have a problem with the 2 channel brstm file. My song is on Toads Factory. When I drive out of the red room the whole song just restarts. I've followed all the steps, remade the file twice and my audio is over 4 minutes long. I've done the start times and restart times of the song correctly as well. Do you know my problem and why its doing this?

This is a very well put tutorial I can't lie, im def subbing. But I do have one problem tho, for some reason when i use multi-brstm builder, everything works fine, but when i listen to the output, I hear a clicking in the background, like a metronome (but doesnt sound like one, sounds like someone clicking their tongue). Do you know how to fix this problem? I dont think its clipping either because i always check to hear for it before i export the WAV from Audacity

That BRSAR patcher you used in the video doesn't work for me. Music tracks tend to fade out after about 30 minutes of music playback in-game.

Thanks for the tutorial! Do you know how to change the star and mega mushroom music? I’ve tried changing it using the revokart file in Brawlbox but it just breaks the audio in game

Hi. I downloaded Some music to use for some custom tracks. But there is a glitch where it just keeps playing the same song over and over again. Do you know why?

I've been trying to change the title screen music, but everytime I try to replace the respective file (514 GRP/TITLE), BrawlBox just crashes

What am I doing wrong for the Menu music if I can hear the copied tracked of layer 1 when It's inverted. What do I need to fix?? ( I'm trying to make an entire Bleach SoundTrack. ) The song I'm using is Number One the OG 2004 version, I'm going to use the Bankai one for victory theme.

for the multi channels, i used the BRSTM and clicked build batch file, then when I run the build batch file it opens then when I check in the out folder there is nothing there.

This tutorial was helpful. All of the music were running fine until I tried adding 3DS Rainbow Road music in the game. I don’t why but it keeps cutting off once around the 1 minute mark. I don’t know if it’s the type of course or something else. I replaced the original rainbow road music track with 3DS rainbow road.
