Is it safe in Baja. With recent news of three surfers murdered just south of Ensanada, the question arises. The news, as always, will talk about how dangerous Mexico is and how it should be avoided. But how much truth is behind that.
These murders are a very sad but actually rare occurrence. It seems, according to the investigation, that it was a random attempted robbery gone wrong.

We have ridden our motorcycles all over Baja and have never felt in danger. We have even camped very close to where the bodies were found. There are so few people living on the Baja that you don't even see many people around. You are much more likely to get robbed or killed in our hometown of Portland, OR, than in Baja.

The truth is that these things can happen no matter where in the world you are. It's important not to judge a place by the random bad things that happen when, overall, it has so many good and friendly people.
