The best way to avoid the naughty warnings from Midjourney is to use Stable Diffusion!

As the old adage goes “if midjourney won’t, someone else will!” If midjourney ever fails, i feel like the censorship will play a large role

Imagine what images we could make if MidJourney had no censorship.

$30 per month and not only do they have a list of banned words but said list is also unavailable to paying users.

Not that I've tried it but, you can say anything you like in Spanish and the bot will do it... so I've been told :D

The problem is allegedly where Midjourney is hosted...Discord...which wants to be SFW.

A list of the words would be handy, but a bit of common sense helps. I've found the most suprising results come from certain styles, artists or certain types of character/images (faires/angels) that you'll be hit with a torrent of nudity of all kinds, I've just been erasing them using the 'X' feature, ut's worrisome that people are getting banned but I feel any moderator checking the actual command prompts will see Im not purposely aiming for such content. Ive found several re-rolls or Variants can solve the nudity issue with a well placed arm, hair, clothing appearing on the image. - I would like to add though that some of the results although nudity have been stunning and something I would class as beautiful peices of art.

I'd imagine this has to do with the fact that images are visible to the community unless you are paying for a private account. The community feed would get twisted pretty fast if they weren't banning certain things. ;-)

Well, I discovered the word pin up is banned 😅 I was going for the art style. Yet I’ve seen others use the word pinup and it’s fine. I sort of think part of the problem also is that it’s on discord. It’s not their own platform.

I'm mad that I can't ever do what I want. Some things shouldn't even be banned

Well then shouldn't michael angelo's David be banned as it will produce nudity...

If you consider that almost any image is accessible through the internet, does it truly make sense to ban a Creator from creating an image that's not even real? Unless the platform is open to all ages, in which case I would understand but maybe you should have platforms for people over 18

So far these words are what I have come across as banned: Petite, sensual, blood, large chest, and bleeding. Their list makes absolutely no sense and the Ai still generates nsfw anyway so what's the point?

It stifles creativity. Open source unrestricted Ai Art generation platform will win eventually

Stop using a censored product, is my advice. Apart from what is actually illegal, I don't want what is or isn't allowed dictated to me by a bunch of authoritarian types censoring for purely political and commercial reasons, not altruistic ones. An art creation platform that doesn't allow things like Guernica or the Venus De Milo isn't worth much, IMO.

Banned words are because MJ is public, yet they don't let the public artist know what those words are until you hit "enter", then if done too many times, the artist gets banned. MJ is designed to make art, yet art is censored. I bet these artist who make 10's of thousands $$$ in art galleries don't get censored if the gallery is making money. Art is going "woke" these days. SAD...

I'm on Midjourney and routinely check the new images feed for interesting items to rate.

The number of users who were attempting to create porn and also specifically child porn was very high. The strict policing including the banned word list has reduced what was a torrent of this kind of content down to a trickle.

Midjourney is not censoring art in general. In the grand scheme of things, pure AI generations are a tiny tiny fraction of all artistic expression. There is no requirement for any of the new image generation tools to be able to create "all of art", and that's not actually practical.

No-one claims that Photoshop's smart face context editor is censoring because it cannot create a picture of a naked person. The generators are all limited by their training data, and the fix for genetrators not wanting to be in the 18+ space is to refine their training data such that the generators don't even know *how* to generate the unwanted content in the first place. Midjourney's next models will be more like this. In the next versions, you will again be able to type "Willy Wonka" again and it will work, but if you type "Big willies" you will get a picture of giant Willy Wonka, and not anything rude. Is that still censorship? I would say not, it's more like the Photoshop editor . . . the tool can do what the tool does and no more.
