seems the oil manufacturer going to be happy watching your video

Good point, dealers say 30k and mechanics say 10k.
Guess what, I chose 5k. Because I don't trust neither.
As you said, oil is everything the blood in the body.

Wow wow wow, running an engine without oil for 20min is sicnificantly different from a few seconds a day.
The engine will never overheat in that one second, but in 20min it will ofcourse overheat and destroy the engine

My car is a hybrid. I drive 90% electric. So I change mine basically once every year and a half. My car also has a oil life meter which has a sensor in the oil and tells me if I need to change it earlier.

good video. As you mentioned in this video, many factors contribute to that "safe oil change interval". It hugely depends on vehicle's usage pattern. For those who do almost all of their driving on motorways, 10k km is a bit too often. I have no problems when servicing between 15-20k for many years now. However, for those drivers who primarily do short trips in stop-and-go traffic in cities, I believe 10k is the maximum, regardless of how "longlife" the oil is. It's just way cheaper and easier to do a quick oil change in time than to have an engine breakdown in the middle of nowhere.

I don't go more than 7, 500 miles between oil changes, or 12, 000 km. My car manufacturer says 10, 000 miles / 16, 000 km.

I go by the color of the oil on the dipstick. Change when it gets dark brown. Never let it get black. It would be helpful if the car's electronics would count cold starts; even just counting starts would be good.

I change my oil when I can’t see my oil dip stick measuring level lines through the oil. Over fifty years using my method and never a engine problem. Best oil is clean oil. But hey what do I know.

My car is 2007 model, is it okay to change the oil after 5000km?
abdirahmanabdikani
Sorry I’m not good with kilometers I use miles but is 30, 000 kilometers equal to around 18, 000 miles? If that’s so than that is insane I change my oil every 5k miles and feel bad when I let it go to 4, 500 miles without an oil change.. I drive a 2011 4 cylinder Camry

I like your videos pretty informative. I just found them and I like them.

In the 70s my farther was already DOING 30, 000 kms oil change intervals, that took HIM almost 2 years of use. And those were mineral API SE oils in carburated ignition point cars! He Never lost an engine for lack of lubrication, even after 8 to 10 years of use and more than 180, 000 kms. For todays cars and oils, thats a walk in the park!

Is it just me or this info is confusing AF. Comparing 20 continuous mins with 1100 accumulated seconds is plain illogical.

what if i dont ride my bike i do like 1000 km in a year ... what happens to the oil if i dont use the engine .. do i need to change it in a year and why ??

I have a 2001 Citroen. Its manual says to change engine oil every 15, 000 kms. It has 275, 000 kms or 171, 000 miles, mostly city driven. Has some varnish under Valve cover, but still runs fine.
cmte.brazinazzo
I do an oil change every 15, 000km, the car has 350, 000km on the clock, works perfectly. I agree that changing the oil more often will result in a longer engine life, but it also comes down to what kind of oil you use - always use the exact oil that the manufacturer perscribed!

I bought a car at 8k km mileage, now it is 10k km mileage, i asked the oil expert if I need to change, by manual check with dipstick it says its color is good, not sticky, not thick. But this is a new engine it will always show this condition of oil, so just change engine oil after 5k km, is this statement correct?
