ABC! Always Be Culling. This time, 35 games are on their way out of my collection as I reevaluate what it takes for a game to stay. Collecting is fun and entirely valid, but circumstances change and for better or for worse, culling games and trimming my collection, Marie Kondo style, is the responsible thing for me. Join me as we walk and talk through the 35 games I'm getting rid of and why.

I'm right there with you. We are going through some financial changes. I haven't been growing the collection for a bit but you have inspired me to actively cull my current collection. My rationale has always been, "But someday, the kids could..." There will be more games in the future and possibly better ones (assuming my kids enjoy games at all). The ones that haven't been played by now will most likely not get played then.

*likes video* AWESOMENESS VIDEO!!!

Your comedy bit was subtle and well done. In my opinion, you made a very video that allowed you to share why you culled them. The reasons work for you and you gave us a positive experience.

It was really interesting to hear about the symbiotic relationship with Doolin in determining your games ecosystem. Has Danielle played the Cat Lady and Sagrada apps? I have them both and love them both. They’re so cute and easy to play everywhere and especially when I am feeling like a bear of little brains. I have, on many an occasion, placed Mecs and Minions in my cart cuz I hear such good things! I can appreciate the focus on your current collection and the experiences instead of the acquisition process (and refocusing money where it is needed most at the moment). Kudos on the really dope polo!

I've recently started approaching things more minimalisticly. We're adding a basement apartment to our house. It was my idea, and I've had to convince my husband we can live comfortably with 3 kiddos in about 2600 square feet. I've gotten rid of so much - about 4 van loads. Here's the questions I run through while deciding if I'm going to keep something:
1) Have I used it in the last year?
2) Will I use it in the next year?
3) Would I buy this again today?
4) Do I want to manage this?

I won't list the obvious question "Does this bring me joy?" because that doesn't work for me.

I've always been impressed with your ability to go through and cull. You're doing an awesome job.

I have taken a first pass on my games, but would like to take a 2nd pass. I would be very interested in a video on how you sell your board games. How do you determine a price, where do you post them, how does shipping effect things, what have you learned from selling lots of board games, etc.

Anyways, I hope all is well you and yours. I love all your videos.

Good job! I'm kinda in the same boat. Money is tighter than it was the last couple years. Culled some stuff before Xmas, got another pile to go. Gonna back a lot fewer Kickstarters this year too.

Okay the pants thing made me laugh. That and thinking a polo was cool unbuttoned or even buttoned for that matter.

Played Roll camera the other week with a friend who has it, found it pretty fun and funny especially creating a story for the movie you've created by the end of it, I wouldn't count it out, and it's more strategic/thinky than you might expect.

Interesting to see TMB, KDM, and Mechs Vs Minions go. I've found that I only have so much room for big campaign games myself. But it's interesting to see how your tastes have developed

I'm excited to hear you dive deeper into the games you already have. I prefer deep dives over 'I played this game 2-4 times'

That is a nice polo and cull list Max. I recently culled all my campaign and legacy games. I can't get them to the table enough, they never get finished.

It feels good to unload the games that aren't sparking joy anymore.

Please tell me you at least got to enjoy most of the TMB collection. Are you planning on keeping any of it, or is the whole trove going?

That is a lot of games you culled! If you don't mind me asking, where do you typically "cull" your games? What platform do you post them to sell them is my question.

How would you suggest selling games if I hate eBay and I live in a city that doesn’t have a board game store that buys/sells used games etc?

100% agree that legacy games are hard to table. I've restarted my Gloomhaven campaign 3 times now (praise be to removable sticker sets)

Too Many Bones, KDM, Spires End and City of Kings are on my never getting rid of pile. Play them often and each one has a special place for various reasons but I understand the "for the right price everything is cullable" mentality

Sad to legacy season zero go, it was my fav, but it is smart to stay ahead and get money back for stuff while it’s hot. Where is the best place you sell your stuff online?

KDM is pretty easy. Just a lot of paperwork / sorting to manage. i.e. needs 2 enthusiastic people so that you have 2 people sorting / setting things up each settlement phase / hunt phase / showdown. It's on my mind because received 1.6 just before Christmas and playing through it now. At LY14. It's goood!

One’s current situation is a big factor in such decisions. “Tweak my fancy” might be the expression you were touching on. I hit the “ like” 👍 button. I hope others will, also.

I was wondering if you'll ever do scythe. You don't mention it usually so is that because you didn't like it or it's just not your type of game?

YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO SPEAK ILL OF WINGSPAN!!! 🚓🚔🚨 😂😂😉

Agree on most of these tho. Rising Sun is one that I will 9/10 times outright refuse to play. 😑
