I just came back from a month in Spain and my starter was in the refrigerator for four months!!!! I was scared so I tried one with mixing in the hooch and another jar emptied hootch and just made loaves out of both jars and all is good! I didnt die . lol I had to of course feed it a couple of times first to reactivate it. I am amazed!!!

Thank you for your patience to finally explain and learning little day, it doesn't matter that it is kept in the kitchen and not in the refrigerator and how many days do you usually give them food so that it is up in total, thank you

Hey, do I have to let it cool down to room temperature before feeding it ?

Okay, but how does it go from running starter in a jar, to nice big bread dough? Ive made starter before following a recipe of feed everyday, remove half each time before feeding, and to use on day 10, it was doing great until day 7 or 8 when it randomly died. 💔

Is it necessary to discard some of the starter before I feed it?

Only in America you have to mention: 'unbleached' flour 😂

What happens if it doesn’t rise? Can I fix it some how?

So I need to clarify something - what about the starter that is left in the fridge, as in the starter you didn’t use in the bake . Do you need to feed that as well?

I am green 🤣, I’m struggling with a spelt sourdough starter! It’s extremely hot 🥵 in central Mexico 🇲🇽, it started out active, then went to having the hooch on top with tiny bubbles 🫧, congratulations on that starter, I’m starting over but when the temperature is below 97f

Wow. I still need to learn so much more about working the starter. I have 2 jars of gummy, non-active "starter" and feeding it doesn't seem to help.

I need somebody to answer a question for me. She said she leaves the sourdough starter on the counter for four hours and then she uses it. How does she use it? I wonder? By adding more flour and water to it or adding it to a bowl of flour and making a couple of loaves, it can’t be that easy

If u are just feeding it and not baking that day, do u feed and put back in fridge right away or wait till it doubles in size on counter first, before putting back in fridge?

Hi, i have a question. After the first 6 days of feeding a new sourdough starter, i want to bake, but then i want to bake daily and plenty like 5 loaves a day. What is your tip, and thank you in advance.

How long can the scraps of starter remain in the fridge and still be viable when you feed them?
