It’s the quality of education rather than the quantity that is the issue.

Let's bring back APPRENTICESHIPS!!!

If other countries' have them and even thrive thanks to them, then why not us?

I've always said that the 4 years of high school should be our career training. Bring back apprenticeships.

collage is for the advanced trades, like doctors, lawyers, and architectural engineers. some things just need more learning, but i think most carrier paths don't need anything beyond an apprenticeship.

This is what happens when you let a business person redesign the education system: cost cutting, treating humans like homogenous production units, and disregard for the final product. It’s literally trading off quality over costs (aka profit).

Hundreds of hours are WASTED in public schools. My eighth grade education in 1957 gave me more knowledge of math, literature, geography, history, literature, art, music, etc than many of today's college students exhibit.

I've had these same sentiments for a long time

The frontal cortex of the human brain does not mature until age 25. The frontal cortex is responsible for higher functioning, reasoning and decision making.

Apply at Tesla with a 10th grade education and see how far you get. You can even cite this.

He's not "revealing his plan, " he's literally brainstorming on camera. This is not what someone who's put serious thought into a topic sounds like, this is what it sounds like when someone thoughtlessly says, "Hey, I can do that better!" and then someone else says, "Okay, do it then, " but they didn't even expect to get that far.

True. I felt like most things each year in school was a repeat honestly in high school 🤷‍♀️

I designed a 10 year homeschool curriculum for my children, from age 4/5 to 14/15. It was EASY to do. A lot of stuff is chaff. High school is completely unnecessary. If a young person is going to college, it will all be repeated. If they are not, they dont need it. It was so easy to fit a comprehensive education in 10 years. We need to stop treating our young adults like children. They are not.

I was in class 1-10 grade, started school at 7 y. o., we graduated with great knowledge of geography, native and world literature, history and science. I had 3 kids going to school for 12 grades, and am sure it wasn't needed, especially 12 grade the way they were taught useless stuff. Wish they were taught how to take college loans, build credit history, explore different fields to choose a profession and be respectful to elders

Well, when you consider how useless the U.S. Education system has been over the last few decades it's probably no loss to us to "cut" education, as long as we replace it with maturity and character building stuff. Bring back shop-class. Teach people to pay their taxes and make physical fitness and dietary health priorities.

The dumber you are, the more compliant you are, it all makes sense...

I went into a trade career after high school and worked my way up. I've been judged and rejected so many times when people found out I didn't get my degree. With the type of childhood I had I didn't have time to study, just looking for a stable job to pay my bills, etc. It ended up working out well for me... Thank you to those companies that believed in me, mentored me, and guided me up the career.

This totally goes along with how you grew up! I was super mature for my age as a teenager. Now, as an adult, I'll never be old 😂 It's mind over matter!

I'm a liberal and even I agree about this. For one thing, in high school, we need to focus more on everyday situations, like how to pay bills, how to responsibly use a credit card, how to figure out taxes when we purchase things, how to talk and deal with tbe government like the IRS or other agencies instead of focusing on dumbass shit like trying to figure out the damn symbolism of Romeo and Juliet in English. Yes, we need English, but we need to focus more on the proper use of Grammer and speech in English and not about the meaning behind some two stanza poem about the sea.

As for college, the same thing. Get rid of the damn classes you don't need for your career. For example, let's say like I want to be an accountant. Do I really need to take Biology for my major if I'm not going to use it? Do we really need forty algebra classes to graduate? I know in some majors, you'll need a lot of math or science.

Another example is, if I'm going to be an oncology nurse, do I really need to take English Lit in order to graduate? If we took classes that had to do with our future careers, do we need to waste our time, money, and brain cells taking a class that's going to be a waste and do no good in our career?

The way he just makes shit up as he goes, and MAGA hangs off his every word like he's a PhD level scholar on the topic, is mind-boggling.
