Why I Play Video Games on Easy Difficulty: Empowerment V.S. Challenge

I’m the same way. I used to think I wasn’t a gamer if I played on easy. Games are meant for the players to have fun. Play the difficulty that brings you the most fun.

I have enough aggravation and stress in my life. I don't need more of it when I play a video game. It why I play pretty much every game on Normal or Easy. I don't have the time or energy to replay the same sections over and over again. I just want to be the level and go onto the next part.

Exactly my thoughts. Thanks for your opinion, in recent times more games are becoming very hard to play, . life is already challenging, We want to enjoy the game, we don't have to prove our ability to anyone by playing in hard difficulty.

This is a good explanation of what easier mode players like in their games, one I've been trying to put a finger on. People tend to think gamers who play on normal or easy just suck at games or quit at any sign of challenge, but that's not it at all. They just prefer to have the freedom to do what they want in a game, while kicking ass. I know it might look boring steamrolling enemies, but to the player enjoying it, it's hella fun just blasting enemies away because they aren't playing for the aspect of challenge.

I like easy mode also. It's the relaxing opposite to programming etc.

For me it’s the fact that you can finish games SO much faster on easy. Most of the time the enemies aren’t any harder on harder difficulties, they just have more health. I don’t wanna spend twice the amount of time on a game just because the basic enemies have twice the amount of health. All of my friends make fun of me for playing on easy, but the jokes on them. A 100 hour game for them is a 30-40 hour game for me. Sorry that I value my time 😂🤷‍♂️

i notice playing on higher difficulties i have to use a lot of cheese strats just to skim by instead of playing in a fun flashy way which is said nicely in this video, its empowerment!

i have a stressful job and coming home to get my shit kicked in often puts me in a worse mood, i gotta accept im not the same kid that could dedicate so much time to grind out a harder difficulty

I agree with you 100%. I like to enjoy playing a video game, I don’t like to feel like I’m gonna have a stroke from the nasty circumstances I’m put in. I work all day then come home to relax, not get stressed out more. Easy button where are you???

I like games that allow you to change the difficulty level at any point, sometimes I want more of a challenge and sometimes I want to get into the story. Sometimes I play when I'm stoned and half asleep and playing on Easy feels like playing on Normal in that frame of mind.

Sometimes it's an ego thing as well. I remember with the first Prototype game on PS3. I started the game on normal difficulty and it was fun up until the end, when it got VERY challenging for me, so much that I kept on dying and dying and dying on the second last level. I got so frustrated, that I couldn't finish the game on normal difficulty that I gave up on it. Maybe I should go back and try it on easy difficulty...

Only after 4000 hours of gameplay in various games on hardest possible difficulties i've come to realise that easy difficulty is secretly best for many reasons, main reason being that on easy difficulty i rarely come across so annoying toxic nervous people.

I play games on the easiest setting because I want to beat the game at my own pace and mainly play it to see the story in these games. Also when I play games I like to have a map or radar system showing me where to go to be doing that next objective. So many games lack that so I stay away from those because a lot of times you won't know where to go and you could be going in the wrong direction for hours. Also like to skip all puzzles in gaming. Which is another annoyance in video games. Figuring out puzzles that can be complex no matter what difficulty you play on. The easier the game the more options I have to play when I want to beat it.

I've beat a lot of games on the hardest setting like SWAT 3 & 4, Opposing Force, etc and I still prefer playing games on the easiest setting. I don't play games to be frustrated, because if I want to get frustrated then I can just live my real life for that.

Depending on the game, I either play on easy or normal. Usually I start with normal and switch to easy if it gets too hard for my liking. Then I replay again on normal.

im what some might call a casual gamer because i play all my games on normal because thats how the game was meant to be played it offers the right amount of empowerment with the right amount of challenge but ive watch all your vids and i love them keep up the good work you can make it far on youtube
