This is fine for most people. I know all the arguments, and I will not use one of these on my own knives but most people will find it satisfactory for their purposes. Most use this type in the military and it’s much better than nothing if you don’t have a clue how to sharpen. It’ll make a blade sharp for a little while until you throw it away, break it, or lose it.

My dad used a pull through sharpener on his hunting knives, and I could see visible ripples in the blade. Not good. I completely re did the edge on his knives with my Lansky angle guided kit, and managed to put them back nice and sharp. From what I understand, good quality stones use abrasive grits to hone the blade, while pull through sharpeners shear off chunks of the blade to profile the edge. I'm sure pull throughs are useful for someone who needs a quick edge on their knife, but I would never use one on mine.

The amount of people who carry a knife, but don’t know how to sharpen it blows my mind.

I have the Kershaw but in yellow and it says national geographic on it. I got it in a thrift store when I was 7. Still have it to this day. It was my fishing companion forever and I was confident in my ability to protect myself as a kid because my Lil kid hand would fit in the carabiner and I had essentially a trench knife in my pocket. Kershaw should bring this back

I bought 3 and I’ll give an honest review. They’re good if you’re out camping, but you DO NOT want to use this to sharpen your $200 (or whatever you consider high end) knives. This would be good choice for a field sharpener, but I’d never use it on a good knife. The sharpener chews the metal up and while it does make it “sharp, ” it’s only a sharp but that it creates and the edge won’t be there for long. If you want an edge that will last a while without needing to be resharpened, learn to use stones or buy a work sharp sharpener Ken onion edition and strop it to get a polished edge that won’t go away for a while.

You can do it again if you want, just make sure you keep your finger a little bit in the way of the edge like you did before.

Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment. So how do you explain me, using the same Knives for 20 years that I sharpen with my Sharpeners. I have many customers that have been with me for 20 years and they’re still using the same knife. You are a little mistaken on what you think you know about the sharpener. But like I said. Thank you for watching and have a great day.

I must be doing something wrong. I got this same sharpener for Christmas and used it and it is sharp but it isn’t THAT sharp. What gives?
