Overtime: Today, we're looking what Jehovah's Witnesses believe and where it differs from the Traditional Orthodox Christian beliefs. Jehovah's Witnesses call themselves Christians, but there are some key differences in their beliefs about Jesus, the Bible, Salvation, and more. As always, our intent is to take an honest look at the beliefs, not set up a straw-man argument. All beliefs responded to in this video come from the Jehovah's Witness website.

We encourage you to ask questions in the comment section below, and we will answer some of them on our next episode of Overtime. See ya then! This is Overtime, a series created to answer some of your comments from our Timeout series. We hope to give you a better understanding of what we, as Christians, believe!

At the beginning, his joke about Halloween is kind of perplexing. Why would any Christian think that holiday is OK? That is perhaps the most blatantly pagan, and demonic holiday, with a very thin facade.
1 Cor 10:21 You cannot be drinking the cup of Jehovah and the cup of demons; you cannot be partaking of “the table of Jehovah” and the table of demons. 22 Or ‘are we inciting Jehovah to jealousy’? We are not stronger than he is, are we?

Truly perplexing how lost some people are.

Happy are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, since the Kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.  “Happy are you when people reproach you and persecute you and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against you for my sake. Rejoice and be overjoyed, since your reward is great in the heavens, for in that way they persecuted the prophets prior to you.-Mathew 5:10-12

John 14:28
"The father is greater than I"

Matthew 7:21-23:

Not everyone who says to me,
'Lord, Lord, ' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my
Father who is in heaven.
On that day many will say to me,
*Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them,
'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.

It is not the eyes that are blind.. It is your hearts.

Our Heavenly Father is the One True Almighty.

I’ll just preface this by saying I identify as an Anglican Christian.
Can anyone explain why the figure of 144, 000 is mentioned in Revelation 7:4-8 and again in Revelation 14:1-5.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit 🙏

Jesus is “only begotten” (John 3:16) which means he had a beginning and was created. Also while he was on earth he prayed to “our father” (Matthew 6:9) meaning he considered himself gods son just like we are gods children. He wasn’t praying to himself, he was praying to a completely separate being, our father.

8:25 Saved does not automatically mean heaven. Saved from adamic sin and death, by means of Jesus' sacrifice.
(Psalm 37:29) The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.

Jesus is divine, but not the Father. The Father is the "one true God" quoting Jesus' own words in John 17:3, but Jesus is our God because He is the "beginning of the creation of God" Revelation 3:14. I am not Jehovah's Witnesses. I am a traditional seventh-day adventist(not part of the mainstream SDA Church). I do believe in the divinity of Jesus, because he was brought forth from God, so He has the same nature as His Father(God), but I do not believe in the Trinity. Because Jesus said all power was given him. SO that means there was a time he did not have power. and if God has a spirit(Spirit of God), Jesus has a spirit(Spirit of Christ), does the Holy Spirit have a spirit? It is ignorant to think that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are coequal, coeternal. there are clearly differences. also, in Proverbs 8:22-31, this passage describes "wisdom". Some people think this is figurative and cannot be applied to Jesus, but just as he identified Himself as the "truth"(John 14:6), what people don't know is that Jesus is also identified...as WISDOM! 1 Corinthians 1:24, 30. Paul states that Christ is to us believers the WISDOM of God! So yes, Proverbs 8:22-31 can and IS applied to Jesus. notice what Solomon says in Proverbs 8:22. "The LORD possessed me in the BEGINNING of HIS WAY." Who is the Way? Jesus Christ. So, this verse is saying Jesus Christ had a beginning! The Father has no beginning and no end, while His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, had a beginning! And plus Jesus has a glorified human body in heaven, while the Father has a form, but the Bible is not clear if he has a body. So, before you go out and falsely represent other faiths, study the Bible and ask wisdom from God Himself(James 1:5-8). Not everyone who doesn't believe in "orthodox" Christianity and the Trinity is not Christian. I am as Christian as you are.

Its sad that you forgot a very important thing, yes the 144000 in heaven but you forget that the bible talks about paradise on earth for the righteous people.

3:40 Jesus is called the beginning of the creation by God. Rev 3:14
That would make Jesus the firstborn of all creation. And the Bible directly calls Jesus the firstborn of all creation. Col 1:15
And the Bible says Jesus had an origin: (Micah 5:2) And you, O Bethʹle·hem Ephʹra·thah, The one too little to be among the thousands of Judah, From you will come out for me the one to be ruler in Israel, Whose origin is from ancient times, from the days of long ago.

That is not ambiguous. That is the truth from the Bible.

This man said "then you cannot be part of what's understood as traditional orthodox Christianity". That is true, as the so called traditional "orthodox" Christianity are not following the Bible. Nor do JW claim to be part of the traditional orthodox "Christianity", as JW believe they teach falsehoods. Yet JW do consider themselves as Christians, as they actually follow the Bible, and Jesus' teachings.
JW outright reject the trinity, because it did not come from the Bible, but from men. The Bible not only never mentions the trinity, but its explicit concept is not found in the Bible. Jesus never said he was God, but God's Son.

7:20 Baptism not necessary? 1 Peter 3:21 Baptism, which corresponds to this (the ark Noah built), is also now saving you (not by the removing of the filth of the flesh, but by the request to God for a good conscience), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Just do a test with the Prayer in Matthew.

If Jesus was God and, the Holy Spirit...

Just imagine that he will pray to himself for himself with another self of himself.

"Holy Trinity" The model of christianism that we see in The New Testament... is inexistant in the primitive christianism.

Christianity and christianism are not the same at all..

To be a Christian, you have to be a follower of Jesus:
Imitate the morals of a perfect model, Jesus.

Christianity was created by a pagan Emperor. He mixted his Roman pagan practices with teaching of The Bible.

Never, the Catholic Church, for example, did follow The Word of God.
Our Father is against paganism.

6:27 Hab 2:3 For the vision is yet for its appointed time,
And it is rushing toward its end, and it will not lie.
Even if it should delay, keep in expectation of it!
For it will without fail come true.
It will not be late!

2 Peter 3:9 Jehovah is not slow concerning his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with you because he does not desire anyone to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.

6:15 It is important to note that only JW believe this. Jesus showed his presence in kingdom power would require a sign, that his disciples would discern. Matt 24:3
In 1914 the kingdom was set up, and is now about to crush and put an end to human governments, and rule over this Earth forever. Dan 2:44

You misquoted number 6 which you said you wouldn’t do in the beginning. You said heaven is currently populated by Jehovah God Jesus Christ heavenly angels and “The 144, 000 faithful Jehovah’s Witnesses who will one day be spiritually resurrected to rule with Jesus.“ By paraphrasing you verbalized wrongly what was written and thus what we believe.

Jehovah’s Witnesses is a modern day name given to modern day worshippers of God and followers of His Son Jesus Christ. The 144, 000 are chosen by God from among those who worship Him, Jehovah, and follow Jesus starting in 33ad at Pentecost and would be chosen from the generations from then up until the Great Tribulation. (Acts 2:3, 4; 2 Corinthians 1:22; Revelation 7:1-4)

Thus the 144, 000 was not a recent choosing but has been happening for centuries. Also since the sealing of them is not finished yet since the four winds are still obviously being held back, not all the 144, 000 are in heaven at this time.

It’s shame you didn’t read what was written but paraphrased. Also it would have been nice to read the scriptures instead of just run over them like a train.
