Those rover tyres did a round trip of 1300 kilometres from Ares 3 hab to the Mars Pathfinder site across the Ares Vallis outflow - some of roughest flat terrain on Mars - and, in this scene, they are on a 3, 300-km drive to Schiaparelli Crater and they still look like they came straight off the showroom floor.
I wish I got that kind of performance out of my Camry's Bridgestones.

People are trying to compare The Martian to Interstellar. Those films are quite different even though they tell a space odyssey . In fact The Martian is closer to GRAVITY than to any other film....
