"Caramelized condensed milk is an heirloom favorite as a topping for desserts. It is made by boiling a sealed can of condensed milk for two to three hours. The can must be completely covered with water during the cooking process and permitted to cool down completely before opening to avoid any danger of explosion and/or burn injuries.

@skybirdbird No, leave it unopened but check the description box and see the safer way to prepare this. Katzcradul suggested that this method I used could be dangerous and suggested that I check out a safer way to make this. I am grateful for her advice and I ammended the description to include this info. Good luck with it.

ok... this is getting creepy... i was just wondering how to make this... our thought processes seem to be in sync somehow... o.O do you open the can before you boil it?

Remember to poke a few holes in the lid before heating it, otherwise...boom.
