I love how when they both ignite their Lightsabers, they both seem to have the same expression on their faces as if they're saying "What am I doing?" or "What have I gotten myself into?"

I don't think Adam Driver gets enough credit for his acting as Kylo Ren

This fight is personally one of my favorites. May seem a bit strange when clearly there are "better" fights. But that's the thing, this fight has a great deal of both meaning and character to it. Take Rey for example. Despite the whole Mary Sue bullshit that's been built up over the past few months, proves to me no one pays attention to the fight.
Rey is woefully outmatched here. She's constantly backpedalling, just barely able to hold off Kylo/Ben's sledgehammer attacks. When she does strike back, she's thrown right back, tripping and stumbling. Just barely able to get the Saber back up to fend off another attack.
Kylo is actually a pretty smart fighter here. He takes his time, constantly keeping her on the defensive as he "walks" her to the cliff. And remember, he's not trying to kill her here. Many of his strikes are meant only to disorient and stumble, not kill. And that's exactly what he does. He pushes her right to the cliff where there is no escape. Plus take into consideration he was both shot and stab prior to this, and he's still basically kicking her ass.
When he does get her to the cliff, she's bent back, barely able to hold on as he keeps her in place.
And now, the infamous "Force" scene. I will explain this for you all.

The Force is a living entity, a God-like presence. Yet the Sith, and by extension Dark Siders, abuse its power. They wish to control it,  bend it to their will without paying a heed of respect to it. This means they can gain great power very quickly, but will never truly have the full extent of its power for they do not respect, nor truly work with the Force. They take the quick and easy path to greatness rather than the hard, brutal road that makes you stronger.
A Jedi respects the Force. A Jedi works with the Force. A Jedi bends to the will of the Force and don't seek to control but to understand it and develop harmony with it. A partnership rather than enslavement.
And that's exactly what this is. Rey puts her trust in the Force, allows it to guide her actions, guide her strikes. THAT is why she won. She wasn't afraid of the Force and its power, whereas Kylo Ren was.

I have said my piece.

0:58 Rey had the high ground for a moment there.

Easily one of Ren's most impressive moments. Traumatized, bleeding, slashed, upset, and still...such a badass. He's not even trying to kill her. And Rey's just swinging Anakin's lightsaber around while continually trying to sound like Voldemort in her grunts and screams. LIKE if you agree.

I still come back to the scene from time to time just to watch the beginning again. It's so powerful and I remember how I felt in the theater. I think the reuse of Burning Homestead was far better than what originally scored and fits the tone perfectly. I only wish the sequel trilogy could have been better managed. I may be in the minority, but Force Awakens is in my top 5.

3:12 Kylo ren:Are you going to cut my limbs off and tell that you love me like a brother and leave me in this volcano? Rey:What?

The music played when Rey retrieved the lightsaber that previously belonged to Luke and Anakin before him was the music heard in A New Hope when Luke realized that he was too late to save his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.

2:43-3:00 *Revenge of the Sith* moment - Rey and Kylo Ren holding their lightsabers together (like Anakin and Obi-Wan did on Mustafar in Episode III).

No front flips, no kung-fu, no high ground.
I really hope Abrams sticks with these kinds of fights.

I can't believe some people think the prequel fights are better than this. This fight is simply beautiful to watch, the way the Lightsabers contrast with each other in the dark snowy forest is angelic. I love how when the Lightsabers clash with the ground you can see snow evaporate and its coloured the same as the blades. Simply stunning. In this fight we actually care about the outcome and fear for our protagonist Rey, unlike the prequels were characters aren't the focus, it's the flip and kicks and look 4 Lightsabers! I could watch this all day.

She is kicking ass because she is Darth Sidious's granddaughter, see how she uses his forward thrust move like Sidious did against Windu in revenge of the sith

This fight is so great- the colors are awesome, it's not over choreographed, and it's also really obvious that Rey has no clue how to properly wield that lightsaber- why would she? She spends the whole time running away or jabbing with it like she would with her staff. A clever decision by the director, imo. (also the lightsaber going to her rather than Kylo is one of the best "fuck you" moments I've ever seen)

2:29 She was walking exactly the same way Kylo Ren did when he was fighting with Finn. BTW did anyone notice that the one who attack first is always Rey? I mean it seems to me that Kylo/Ben did not want to hurt her, he was just trying to stop her..(in the begining you can see he wanted to cut her leg, not to cut her seriously) And just compare this with his fight with Finn..obvious. When finn was holding Anakin's lightsaber he was incredibly angry and immidiately attacked Finn, he was enjoying hurt him. But, when Rey got the lightsaber he was impressed, amazed by that. /"It is you.." Accordong to the book :) / Interesting.

I love the look on Kylo's face, in his eyes, after Rey calms herself and embraces the force. It's very subtle but you can see his eyes say OH SHIT!!! I"M SCREWED!!!

Kylo Ren: AH NO MY MY PRECIOUS MODELING

I'll never forget the theater's reaction. The lightsaber flew into Rey's hand, her stunned expression mirroring my own. Then the entire theater started screaming. Heard one lady yell "KICK HIS WHINY ASS REY!"

That awkward moment when you have been trained in the ways of the Force and you get your butt kicked by somebody who hasn't had any training at all.

I like how both Rey & Kylo Ren were handled in this movie & it's so much better than how they were handled in the 2 sequels with that being able to connect & see each other through the Force & even just make lightsabers magically appear & disappear.

To me, that was just overkill.

I'm gonna go ahead & say that this is the best lightsaber battle in the entire sequel trilogy, but it still doesn't live up to the ones in the middle/original trilogy & even the prequel trilogy.

From 00:00 to 00:35 was one of the greatest moments in the entire Star Wars trilogy. We have not seen a real Star Wars movie since 1983 and even though it took 2 hours of screen time and 32 years of waiting for that moment: it's back. That's what that scene meant in my opinion when watching it for the first time.
