Thank you for convincing me that not giving them money was the right decision.

I had a buddy who played his guitar somewhere on the red line. A week into it he got stabbed by some random chick. Chicago's no joke.

Those drummers are ALWAYS there. I won't be giving them any money.

Bro read the laws but found out about the streets. City food stands and performers will kill for their territory

I hope a ton of people see this video and don’t give those dirt bags a cent. Thank you for exposing them. They need to be held accountable.

I've been bullied by the bucket boys and I'm not even a performer. They downright blocked me from moving away and harassed me into giving them money. They are the worst

My old friend used to street perform in downtown Chicago and these same drummer guys would harass her out of her spot almost every time she tried to perform. They are ruthless and I’m so sorry it happened to you too. It’s really hard now for performers in Chicago. The safety isnt even worth it anymore. Hope you find some better spots :(

Chicago was nice during Covid. Streets were empty of shitheads.

As a Chicago native, you can make more money in the subway during the day in the Red Line or Blue Line. Best spots would be Jackson or State and Lake on the Red Line. And would be safer (keep in mind during the day, mainly, late morning to mid afternoon).

Sorry that happened to you. As SOON as I saw you showed some guys sitting there drumming, and the next day you setup in their same spot. I knew there was going to be trouble. Even though there are rules, these guys are very territorial. I'm from Chicago btw, born and raised. Glad you are ok!

I live 20 minutes from downtown Chicago.. I’ve never given those drummers any money more so because I haven’t come close enough to them. But now with more reason I’ll never give them anything

I knew that was going to happen. Seen that a mile away street vendors are very territorial. Be safe out there

Almost lifelong Chicagoan here. Everyone seeing this understand something, there's an epic problem of biblical proportions concerning mental health in this city. Especially downtown, you have no idea how many people walking around are not of sound mind. And it's not all drugs, a lot of it is chemical imbalances from starting conditions not due to altering brain chemistry thru substance. And things have been like this for a very long time. I grew up in the 90s and if you believe Chicago is wild now, you should have seen it then. The murder rate was basically double. Think about that when you say Chi-Raq. Still all that being said, I'm very grateful to have grown up on the SouthSide of Chicago. Anytime I'd go travel to different places and cities, I never was wary of getting scammed or hurt or anything bad happening. SouthSide of Chicago teaches you how to see all the angles & do the math of how they interact.
Be safe and God Bless 🐕

That guys behavior is perfect example of why the system keeps people oppressed. If you can't act like a decent human being, how do you expect the system to really give a damn?

Why do people continue to tip bullies like that. We cannot continue to make it profitable for them and their behaviors stop tipping them

You forgot to read the unwritten rules of the street.
