This movie is based on the Hindu scriptures. The story revolves around the 10th incarnation of the Lord Vishnu, Kalki, that is supposed to reset the world with peace and harmony.

For more context: the old guy in this movie was cursed with immortality almost 5000 years ago. His main motive in this movie is to let Kalki born in this world

Just stop saying it's copy of dune you don't know about India mythology story just see the movie and reasearch on India mythology kalki puran then after you realise was this copy or not by seeing it's visualisation which is quite similar than dune is this logical reasons for saying it's copy of dune . Context of the movie - According to Hinduism Lord Vishnu have 10 incarnations and every incarnation fights a demon but the 10 incarnation will be born in future fighting a demon named kalipurush and the name of the incarnation is kalki which itself is the name of the movie. Hinduism says their are 7 immortals who would help Lord Kalki in his war with kali purush and the Immortals were born thousands of years ago and still living to fight and train lord Kalki .The oldly man shown is none other than one of the 7 immortals of the world Aswathama who fought the greatest Mahabharata war and was cursed by Lord Vishnu's another incarnation Lord Krishna that he would live till the world persists . For understanding the movie you will firstly have to understand the Mahabharata war and Vishnu 10 incarnations then you can relate it easily .
