Looking back, Nintendo must've really cared about Matt considering how far they went to put in easter eggs to captivate a story for Matt and being the only Mii representing some sort of lore for the games.(besides Lucía in Table tennis as its revealed somehow Yoshi was a vice champ that trained Lucía to become champ) It truly is heartwarming and for me at least nostalgic on how much thought and consideration they put in for a simple Mii that could've just easily been a one and done. For someone who has played the Wii all their life even today, it's nice knowing how much care was put into a demo game and how even if it wasn't anticipated that Matt would be one of their most iconic and popular characters they still put so much love into this beautiful character.(last part sounds like im glazing but idc)

My friend was actually the first person who posted the Matt meme! He had a meme page with 30k followers on Instagram and it soon got stolen and reposted on worldstar, without the watermark.

The fun thing me and my brother actually did while playing on our wii, is that we made a Matt extended family tree just for the jokes. We made his dad named Carpenter, a brother named Rugg, and a sister named Carpett. We have yet to bring a mother into the picture mainly because we ran out of names to keep the name gag going.

But yeah, Matt really is a special mii for the wii

Nicely done vid! I'm honestly convinced Nintendo was attached to Matt, bc (as far as ik) he's the only one with any visible backstory and I believe he's the only Mii in OG Wii Sports to have a voice, even tho it's just grunts.

Another thing I'd like to point out. If anyone watches boxing or boxes themselves might've noticed, is Matt's previous fav color. In boxing it's common for the champ to wear red and for the challenger to wear blue. I just like that little detail 😊

matt story is really just a classic champion story, we seen it countless times but it still hits
what are i really like is the devs trying to make a narrative without saying a word with what little they had
i really wished that a future wii sports title would have a story mode where matt coaches you to become the champion
