I should have named them, but the sharp points located at the back and top of an axe are known as spikes or pikes. These attachments enable an axe to stab and potentially pierce armor effectively when slicing or chopping proves impractical. If positioned on top of the axehead, the spike is ideally designed to be longer, allowing for greater reach and minimizing the risk of being obstructed during use.

I do want to note though that in some scenes of 7DS it looks like the pike in Escanor's is Divine Axe Rhitta, is longer, but in other scenes it's not long enough, and we wanted to point out the importance of its length for combat.

If you look at most scenes the top spike does protrude a little past the top point of the axe's blade. So, one could stab with it. Escanor's weapon is essentially a halberd except the axe blade part is larger than normal and the handle/shaft is shorter than normal with a guard.

I appreciate the fact that you addressed that the Divine Axe Rita is a practical weapon, but only when someone as big and strong as Escanor can wield it.

I’m sure a bunch of other weapon and martial-arts youtube channels wouldn’t even address this, and would just complain that it’s completely impractical, because it’s too heavy, and not possessing a second handle for someone to wield with two hands.

Like how Escanor tells the Demon Galand, (who complained it’s not practical for a two handed axe, because it was really heavy, and wasn’t long enough nor had a second grip) and corrects Galand that it’s not a two handed axe, but a one handed axe, picking Rita up with ease.
