When the pressure arm is from the side, the drill bit slips to the left while drilling. If you make the pressure arm from the middle of the rails above the engine, it works more easily.

Nice build, but I suspect the motor's bearings are for tangential loads rather than axial ones. Lowering the rpm with a belt/pulley system would increase the torque and remove the axial load

На 20:30 отчетливо видно уход оси сверления с вертикали при надавливании на рычаг. Так сказать люфт есть. А если бы шариковые направляющие разместить на некотором удалении друг от друга, например 50-60 мм, то, вероятно, люфт бы исчез. Или рычаг сделать другим, двойным, чтоб нагрузка была на обе стороны. Но в целом, можно и так оставить, все равно там все комплектующие сами по себе не являются точными.

It would be better with a reducer to lower the RPM and increase strength. It is seen that due to the construction it is not very precise but I imagine that for home jobs it will work.

Just suggested to place the spring laterally, it could be two for greater balance, near the support column. This would give you more room for the pieces to drill.

A rough job but it seems to work in the light duty applications shown. I can't see the wooden pillar staying firmly attached to the base for long.
