Amidst the COVID crisis, there exists hesitance in Bengaluru to open up more beds, but what is the current situation across private and government hospitals? Government and private hospitals do not have any ICUs and ventilators remaining despite 100s of beds being allocated in these hospitals, these are completely full. The private hospitals were asked to reserve 50 percent initially. The health minister later informed that 85 percent of the beds had to be reserved. Currently there are 30 ICU and 16 ventilators remaining. Bengaluru is dealing with a shortage of beds and people from areas around Bengaluru have come forward to get themselves treated there.
