Managing the Perioperative Pathway - Prehabilitation and Optimisation Service

Our July 2024 PKB User Group showcased how PKB provides an all-in-one solution to drive efficiencies and enhance the patient’s experience across the Perioperative Pathway, from referral to discharge.

Three NHS customers shared examples of how they are using PKB to support specific stages. In our second film here, Clinical Lead Physiotherapist Ben Matthews presents how Hywel Dda Health Board has used PKB to deliver a prehabilitation and optimisation service for their orthopaedic department.

Supporting patients to wait well and engage in prehab programmes is a crucial aspect of managing today’s often extended perioperative pathway. Using PKB care plans and library, the orthopaedic team has introduced an eight week virtual prehab programme to support thousands of patients awaiting surgery across a big geographic area. Ben explains the programme set up, the positive patient responses and shares their learnings to date.
