Hi, I visited Istanbul in 2022, 2023 and checked 2024 for one of my friends who will visit Istanbul in June 2024. Compared to 2022 prices are up 3-4 times... Turkey is definitely not a cheap destination anymore. But I have to admit it worth to visit anyway

Just returned from Istanbul and won’t be going back again. It’s more expensive than London and Paris that’s crazy.

I was in Istanbul two weeks ago and things have become very expensive since my last visit. Also Berry not every tourist comes with Usd or euro as many travel vloggers tend to think. I am South African and my currency is almost as bad as the lira so its expensive to visit the sites. I also tend just visit these sites without going inside and eat a heathy better priced breakfast on thee Asian side which gets me through to supper. I think a nice video would be sites that are free or at a reasonable price. Staying on the Asian side is also more affordable for the budget traveler. Thank you for a nice video

I travelled to Turkiye last year, (From Scotland) visiting Fethiye, Antalya and Istanbul. Prices varied between destinations and although these prices are higher, they’re still very reasonable, especially considering you are in a major tourist destination and if you walk just 5-10 minutes away from the most touristy areas, the prices drop accordingly.

I will definitely be back in Istanbul and no price rises would put me off, visiting this beautiful city and its wonderful people.

Prices is not a problem. Problem is what you get for that money. Transportation is not expencive and I recommend to buy food in local groceries or shops like BIM or MIGROS.

Hi, I went to Istanbul in April. The main Attractions are expensive but the public transport is fantastic and cheap, food and shopping can be reasonable if you shop around if not it is expensive and Thank you your videos were very helpful 😀 👍🏼

As a German citizen with a Turkish background who's traveling to Türkiye regularly I can confirm prices in Istanbul have skyrocketed, especially between 2022 and 2024.

A full dinner in a meat restaurant with starters and appetizers, three main courses, dessert, all drinks for two people (the table was full and there was no place on the table to place a tea glass) was about 14€ and it took us two hours to finish. The same food in 2024 turns out to be around 90€ exactly two years later in 2024. A Chicken Dürüm is cheap fast food but 7€ is the same price for a Chicken Dürüm I pay in a big German city, too. And we in Germany have at least 6-7 times higher income compared to Türkiye.

I don't pay that kind of high prices in a Turkish meat restaurant in Germany but Istanbul is trying to scam everyone.

So, you can't eat Dürüm all day long and when you look a little western, the restaurants apply a special tourist markup which is extremely unfair. Be prepared to pay around 4 to 5 more than locals. I'm not affected by that as I do look Turkish but when you're blond or have bright eye color you're eligible for the tourist markup scam. I'm ashamed of this Turkish entrepreneur trick to scam tourists.

I’ve watched quite a few of your videos before visiting this month (May 2024) so I was aware it was very very expensive. I opted out of visiting some of the more expensive attractions and visited the free attractions and without long waiting lines! Thanks for the good info and the effort you put into sharing your tips/info👍

Princess Island Ferry ride is a wonderful day trip and super cheap! The sunsets on the Bosporus are some of my best memories and free as well. Nice vid!

This is one place that I always enjoy and look forward going back to! Just came back from Istanbul and it is expensive but especially if you go to the touristy places. I would recommend Topkapi palace, great value for the ticket price. I spent more than 3h there.

We recently visited Turkey, Istanbul in the month of May 2024 . The country has more than 100% inflation. Interest rate is 50% ! To match the falling value of Lira everyone tries to fleece you, scam you. the prices are as much as Western Europe. I got a rare experience of being in a country with hyper inflation. Wonder how common people cope with this, particularly retired...

Just visited Turkey in early May and felt prepared after watching your videos, thanks. Lots of history and culture with a great transit network. Found reasonably priced accommodation on the Asian side and started each day with a traditional breakfast. Found prices higher than expected and plenty of scammers to be wary of. We took your suggestion and did an early Evening cruise on the public ferry of the Bosporus.

The prices have seriously shot up since the last time I visited in July 2022. Just as an example… in 2022, £1 = 20tl… the price of a portion of Kofte from the famous SultanAhmet Koftecisi was 60tl (£3)… but in 2024, £1 = 40tl and the price for a portion is 280tl (£7)… an increase of more than twice as much… this is just a very basic example of food… but in many places the equivalent has gone up by 2/3x. I feel sorry for the ppl in Turkiye… it must be very difficult. In’sha’allah things will improve by the end of the year as the inflation should drop significantly.
