The Five Solas of the Reformation

Hi guys,

Welcome to "The Five Solas of the Reformation" video!

As believers, it is important to know what the early reformers stood for and how it sets the foundation for the doctrines of grace...

The Five Solas:
1). Sola Scripture, "Scripture Alone"
2). Sola Gratia, "Grace Alone"
3). Sola Fide, "Faith Alone"
4). Solus Christus, "Christ Alone"
5). Soli Deo Gloria, "to the glory of God alone"

We must be firm on what we stand for as a Christian and we must know that the heart cry of the Reformation was God's providential act in history to maintain His truth amidst false religion and apostasy.

I agree with Sola Scriptura, but Sola Gratia is more nuanced. I believe that God's Grace saves us, and by his saving Grace, we become Christ-like and walk in his steps. Good works are an extension of Grace and go hand and glove with good works. You cannot be in his grace and not do Good Works. Good Works does not buy you his Grace, but God's Grace leads you to his Good works!

Great video, and thank you for allowing me to think through this. I am a former Roman Catholic that now identifies as a follower of Christ. Non-denominational by choice. I am living to build a personal relationship with God!

And that for once it isn't someone telling us about a dream apparently the Lord told them or a prophetic prediction that make Christians look bad when it wont come to pass. You are correct Connie - ignore the demons who come to only contest the gospel. They are of the devil and work each day to deceive others because they are full of hate.

I had the same experience when I caught after God. The Lord led me straight to His Soverignty. From Soverignty He led me to so much wonderful relationship with Him. When I was submitted to His absolute authority (Soverignty), He led me, as He still is, to better communion.

Hey Connie, I would just like to thank you for your videos and your willingness to help others even though many are persecuting you for it. I totally agree with you on reformed theology and the doctrines of grace and the complete sovereignty of God. People hate the doctrines of grace as it does not give them any reason to boast. I'm just so thankful that by the grace of God alone he gave me the gift of faith and repentance to fear him and die to myself and live for him. Thank you Connie for sharing your belief system and for all of your helpful videos! In short, I wholly agree with the Five Points that you are sharing; I came to believe in them when I was 18 years old when the rest of my immediate family entirely disagreed with them. I have huge problems with many Reformed theologians, however, such as RC Sproul and Ligonier Ministries, not because of their beliefs on these Five Points but they commonly believe in amillennialism and in replacement theology, which in my opinion are utterly destructive and hellish doctrines.

The term "5 Solas", like "The Trinity" aren't in scripture, per se. Yet, are described, throughout.

Many will easily get tripped up over terms and get into vain arguments, instead of searching HIS WORD to realize the "how" these terms are defined and justified.

You're a Calvinist. Connie I have a question for you. If you understand Reformed theology then you do understand that God does all the drawing (irresistible grace). That there is no such thing as libertarian free will. That God saves some and chooses not to save others. With that in mind, can you tell me please how do you know that you're saved or simply not going through a phase?

sola scriptura is a man-made doctrine. it was introduced by Anglican theologian Richard Hooker. Follow Jesus, follow the scriptures, and follow his established faith (the roman catholic church).

We are also saved by his mercy Titus 3:5.
Should we add Sola Mercy. All of this latin seeks to legitimize the doctrine of the carnal mind of those who are long since passed.
We don't need it. We have bibles. Grace and Peace!
