I work in the Emergency Dept as an RN Educator, and EMTs/Paramedics should be paid way more than what they currently make, , they honestly do alot on the field prior to bringing people to the hospital. Unsung heroes..

You're paying less than you can get an apartment for. Keep the house anyway you can.

I paid $1100 a month mortgage when I was only making $30k a year. It’s doable if you’re responsible with your money.

If he cannot find a rental for less then the mortgage, he should not sell.
He brings home 4k a month. He can afford to keep the house.

I bought mine for 81k in 2012 and paid it off in 2021. now it is valued at 240k. I can't imagine going into debt for the prices of today.

Having a 3-6 month emergency fund could’ve prevented this. If he got sick and couldn’t work for a while having an EF would’ve provided that cushion. Sounds like other debt is in play here as well.

I don’t think the house is the issue. I mean if he sells it he still needs a place to live and I doubt he will find rent for much less than his payment is. He just needs to work more and get on a budget.

The first thing I’d be trying to do is rent out rooms on top of working extra hours. I’ve met a few people who’ve done kinda extensive (in my mind at least) renovations with some borrowed tools and YouTube university

i just checked and 1br apt in his area are renting for more than his mortgage payment....he should keep the house and try to get current cause renting is worse !

Dave should have asked him about other debts. Four months behind is a lot for someone employed.

Try to keep the house. It will be best for you even though you cannot see it now.

It seems like he should be able to pull this off. He's got a solid career. New houses can have nasty surprises in spite of having passed the inspection.
