A physical representation of hubris and how useless it is in the end

Or you get hired by a company and they fire you on a whim and it becomes very dangerous to stay in country. Happened to a pilot friend of mine.

Dubai is a literal futuristic dystopia. Completely disposable billionaires.

What he did not explain is that due to limited banking facilities due to Islamic laws (which forbid interest on loans) you cannot set up direct debits. So when you buy a car over 36 months you have to give the car dealer 36 cheques. You get three years in prison for bouncing a cheque. So imagine the scene there is a cut back and you lose your job. You cannot cover your next cheque. If you do not leave immediately you get imprisoned for cheque 1 that’s three years. Whilst imprisoned you then bounce the other 35 cheques that’s an additional 105 years. No wonder they drive to the airport and leave the car to be recovered

My mother was in Dubai decades ago and somehow ended up speaking with a dry cleaner who showed her the storage room where he kept all the clothes people had abandoned. Gowns worth 10s of thousands of dollars that people either couldn't afford or had just left at the cleaners because 10 grand is pocket change to them and they wanted something new. He couldn't get rid of them, so he just had to store them. For all I know, they're still there.

I hope the government keeps the vehicles forever for history. Cover it up! That way people can have parts to rebuild 30 years from now.

Anyone can go and make offers on these vehicles. Problem is that 95% of them are not worth paying the shipping fees to send to another county

Governments need to change laws to reduce environmental impact of their policies

Next time you want to prioritize your efforts to buying that new expensive car or toy or whatever, just realize that at the end of the day, it’s just polished plastic and metal

I live in my car, but unfortunately my car broke down, & stuck at Walmart parking lot. It makes me mad seeing good working luxury cars out collecting dust & rusting. I could have one where it has enough space for me to sleep in but it will take years to buy something that works.

For all the people calling expats immigrants, there is a distinction. There is no permanent residence in UAE and all labor contracts are for a limited period. So, technically everyone in the UAE are expats or " overseas workers", even the poor laborers.

I just checked the copart auction site in Dubai. And holy... the miles on some of those cars😮‍💨 a 2020 with 457k miles. Some with 500k and 700k That is just insane.
