10-Pound Puppy Trampled by Car Suffers Crippling Double Leg Fracture
Показать описание
South Texas is overflowing with stray dogs. In fact, there are over 1 million strays in Houston alone. Overpopulation isn't limited to the streets, either. For every 100 dogs that enter an animal shelter, only 40 are adopted. The other 60% of dogs, unfortunately, enter heaven by way of euthanization.
Little Eduardo is a tiny, ten-pound puppy whose primary mission in life is survival, and South Texas isn't an easy place to make it as a solitary pup. For starters, South Texas is incredibly hot and muggy, especially along the Gulf Coast and in the lowlands. Average summer temperatures hover around 90°F and routinely top out at over 100°F every day.
After dragging his tiny body through the scorching heat in search of food, water, and shelter, poor Eduardo's fragile frame has become sluggish and weak. Sadly, little Eduardo was struck by a moving vehicle while crawling across the pavement in search of nourishment. The driver took off and left him lying helplessly in the middle of the pavement in a state of fear, confusion, and terrorizing pain.
We rushed sweet Eduardo to the emergency animal hospital for treatment and learned that this tiny puppy has four immobilizing fractures that require multiple surgeries to repair. Consequentially, Eduardo shattered his hind legs and is no longer able to walk normally.
If left untreated, his broken bones will not heal naturally and can set improperly and cause permanent deformities. Once a bone has fused, it cannot be reset. Bad positioning of a broken bone can also make Eduardo more susceptible to future fractures and infections.
We are doing everything in our power to help poor Eduardo but we operate solely on donations and don't have enough money to pay for his critical surgery and medical treatment. We're relying on our generous supporters to help raise enough funds for his veterinary bills.
Please consider helping sweet little Eduardo by donating to his medical fund or sending a get-well gift from his wishlist, such as food, treats, and supplements. Saving Animal Lives 24/7 is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and all donations are fully tax-deductible.
