Thank you for this. I went through a divorce and lost business. I went through a downward spiral, with alcohol and depression. I am sober and motivated now, starting my business back this year! Literally lost everything but God is working, and I am keeping him first and learning from people like yourself. Thank you again God bless.

I agree with what you're saying about management style and not going out to jobs if you don't need to. I spent a number of years as a lead hand for a small construction/renovation company, I am quite competent, and my crew and I had things locked down, but the boss was a micro manager, he would show up and want to nitpick everything. It drove me insane and was a major part of why I ended up leaving not only that company, but the industry entirely. You have to be able to trust your guys, obviously your guys have to be trustworthy, but if they are, give them the space

Thanks for this, if every young entrepreneur would listen to this it is better than any college class. Stan, you are a teacher and leader. Keep up the great content.

Stanley thank you! I'm a technician doing totally different work. If a valued employee makes money with minimal non monetary hiccups . It's all good. People make mistakes. Let the technician/employee really ask hey boss this is above my head. Then step in but not be a teacher be a person who lets the good worker figure it out with insight!!.

When I got busy and started hiring guys I think I was a terrible boss. I am OCD and go to the extreme to do things right for my customers. I would question them and ask why they didn't do this or that the way i would have done it. It bothered me TBH. After a while customers would tell me what a great job my guys did and i never had any complaints. I finally let go and let them do their thing. We all do things different but at the end of the day it all worked out. Funny thing was for about 25 years I let my guys handle everything and I had a manager. My manger got cancer and one guy left so we were short. I hadn't actually ran calls for 25 years and everything changed. My guys had to teach me the new way of doing things and the new technology so I could come out and run calls.

The biggest mistake NASA ever made was to break up successful teams, not thinking that the synergy of that team was what made the project successful.

Right on Stan! That's the sign of a leader, not a manager! Well done!

Great to see more projects but being time lapse through them in these last few have been a bit much. I know they're a backdrop for your words or wisdom and experience which is great also.
Like the previous job with the retaining wall where the asphalt was laid prior, There was some tricky corners to be dealt with and it would've been nice to see them handled and discussed in real time. Maybe you didn't want to give away trade secrets as that curved section wasn't even shown. Always enjoy you, Your crew and the jobs !!

Love the video guys.
Are fairly new to the channel and don’t know much at all about retaining walls. I was just curious as to why you were layering the rock with the soil ?🤔

You’re a good owner, it’s okay to visit and bring coffee or lunch but you are dead on with that perspective… great job on your part

Lol as a guy who's run companies and ran my own as well. Ran 14 guys for years.. What you say is very true on when the owner shows they come running lol.. Here is what you will find out by doing it your way you eventually will be classified as a lazy guy by never showing up on jobs. People will look at you differently and not in a positive way it don't matter how successful you are or what you pay your employees when they feal there boss is lazy and makes way to much $$$$ for doing nothing this will back fire on you imo at some point. Here is a better approach or what I've learned i will show up on all job sites and work 1 to 2 hrs and show the guys i can still do the work and still out work them all this is how you earn respect imo

Stan you have very dependable employees that have been with you for years. I'm sure when Blain left hurt a little being you trusted him so well jobs didn't need to be overseen by you or Tim. Sam, Alex and Zach also do great work your blessed have such great employees

Once you get them started it should run itself, sometimes wearing multiple caps will cost you, kinda just like one job, seems like one leads to the other then the other then you back in the rat race.FIDK

That's the problem Ryan from Victory Outdoor Services has. All his guys can't remember to do anything right cause he's always doing it for them.
