These colours all give strong 1930s vibes without anything looking remotely dated. I can see how two generations in the same home can feel comfortable in the spaces without one or the other feeling a bit "out of time".

I noticed the brown ribbon lining the ceiling first not knowing what it is and thinking I should do the same because I don't like it when a wall paint abruptly ends where they meet the ceiling. I feel like there should be a cornice or something like we have a skirting to make it look well put together. Putting ribbon is such a cost effective measure. Thank you, Patrick! ❤

The very best examples of Design are houses/compilations LIKE THIS... where a room is designed around a pair of curtains one found in a skip, or a dish in a thrift shop, or your granny's embroideries or your favourite shirt... where one thing emerges out of another, where it's happenstance and love and a sudden idea and you pull all these elements together... and Magic happens! And it wasn't The Latest Fashion, or a Showroom, but rather, a collage of very personal elements... and therefore inimitable, a mix of old and new, and whimsical with the serious. Et voila!

My colours, and my style. I'm not sure why people became so scared of colours and patterns, especially here in North America. I've always stuck to my style and eschewed the barren beige and grey years.
