Two Steps From Hell - Flight of the Silverbird (Piano Version)
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann

Some of you have asked me again and again to do "Flight of the Silverbird" by Two Steps From Hell and I had also planned to dedicate myself to this epic track for quite some time. However, I had already guessed that this arrangement will take more time and energy than usual. And now that I finally uploaded this video, I can say that it was really one of the most challenging arrangements for me. So together with my other private challenges, the last 2 months have flown by for me, but I am also aware that 2 months on Youtube can mean a very long time. So thank you for your patience with me and I plan to upload more regularly again in the future.

Any suggestions for future arrangements? Please leave them in the comments.

There’s just something about Patrik arrangements that makes it sounds so good. Always love seeing him cover a Two Steps From Hell song.

Easily one of the best pianists I’ve ever heard. The articulation and emotion he plays with, coupled with incredible four note chords, is truly incredible.

There's got to be so many instruments playing together in the original, and this guy goes and somehow does it all with a single piano and two hands. Incredible.

Welcome back Patrik! I hope everything went as planned with your move! I'm all the more pleased that we're about to get a TSFH double pack! First 'Star Sky' and now 'Flight Of The Silverbird', it doesn't get any better!

Damn, I love that piece! 'Flight Of The Silverbird' is quite an energetic, fast and powerful track. 11 pages of sheet music... Considering the short length of the piece, that's saying something! I think TSFH did a really great job and lived up to the title of the piece as you can almost hear the bird flying through the whole piece. These fast movements in the strings over the main melody are very characteristic. That's why I was extremely interested in how you're going to implement it! Well, what can I say, you absolutely nailed it again! You have implemented this hectic and lively mood in a grandiose way. One example: bar 19. Integrating the melody into these rapid arpeggios is highly intelligent, literally makes the bird fly and certainly needs a little more practice. Bar 35: another very exciting passage begins. The melody switches to the left hand and is subtly accompanied by the arpeggios in the right hand, giving the atmosphere and the feeling: "We're supposed to go somewhere". In addition, the main melody can be heard quite often in the piece. So the major task is to make some kind of variety to take place. After all, playing the melody the same way every time would be boring. But of course you paid attention to that again! I think this piece was pretty practice-intensive, right? There were a wealth of technical challenges!

After all, Bergersen's pieces are always telling stories. In this case, the story of a bird, just amazing!

One question that always comes to mind while listening: How do you feel while playing your pieces? Is it nervousness, happiness or pure excitement? Do you have special rituals before you start recording and do you sometimes need several attempts?

Schönes Wochenende Dir!

All the very best,

Lasse

I’ve never commented on one of your videos Patrik. This time I will. I’ve been following your channel for quite a few years now and I must say that your arrangements have and continue to inspire me. I feel that this arrangement is truly on another level when it comes to technique and speed. Your ability to listen to and recreate soundtracks while still maintaining the original tone and harmony is truly a gift that I envy. My whole channel was inspired by your videos. Someday, I hope to reach your level.

Your biggest admirer,
Richard.

Wow, This might be one of my favorite performance of yours! I'm not surprised that this was challenging for you. It always impresses me how you can get those arpeggios, jumps and fast chords consistantly, congrats!
Much love 💙

Holy crap, no matter how many times I watch your videos I just can't believe the amount of finger dexterity, speed, and coordination this requires. It's amazing, the talent on display.

Flight of the Silverbird is one of my favorite tracks from TSFH. So glad that you have performed a magnificent arrangement of it. Perfecting this must have taken a long time. No other makes renditions nearly as well as you do.

Hi Patrik! I just wanted to tell you thank you so much.

This may sound silly, but when I was a young teen I was going through a very difficult time in my life, and I came across your YT channel. Your music really planted a deep appreciation for music in my heart and inspired me to start playing the piano more frequently. I felt a joy that I had not really felt before when playing the piano, so I even found myself playing the piano for hours straight. I have enjoyed learning many of your pieces and have frequently listened to them while driving in the car, reading, or studying over the past few years. You have the ability to capture the true heart of each cover you do unbelievably well. Thank you so much for what you do in making truly beautiful music and quality content for all of us. I'm sure it has touched many hearts including my own.
Blessings and Merry Christmas!

Hallo Patrik,

Hey Patrick, I am writing off a family member's account as I don't have one, just wanted to say how much I've always enjoyed your arrangement's, especially this one! I'll never cease to be amazed by your playing, It's so neat how you can transcribe an orchestral arrangement into a piano solo! I've been listening to your songs for about three years and I've got to say that in my opinion, you are the best arranger on YouTube! I've managed to learn a couple of your songs and they are a joy to play! Can't wait to hear your next one : ) I would also love to see you arrange see you tomorrow from how to train your dragon. Thanks for sharing your talents and never stop playing!!!

I love your videos and have tried to replay them several times, but I don't think anyone can do it as well as you.
You are one of the best pianists in the world.

Ich liebe deine Videos und hab schon mehrmals versucht sie nachzuspielen, aber so gut wie du kriegt es denke ich keiner hin. Du bist zweifellos einer der besten Pianisten der Welt.

The mad lad finally did it. Precisely as perfect as I'd imagined. Been commenting asking for this song for 2 years. Nothing but gratitude Patrik. I shall buy the sheet music immediately. My skill is nowhere near up to the task, but however long it takes I will play this one day.

Hi Patrick, Another amazing song.
You are so good at translating songs to the piano. Every time you upload a new song I'm just amazed at good it sounds. All your piano songs have a level of depth to them that is very rare to find in piano covers. All the layers of the song are recognizable and you can really feel the power that they have.
I love your work and I'm so happy that you share your talent with the world.
