'UEFA Champions League Anthem' by Tony Britten - P. Barton FEURICH piano

This well-known contemporary composition by Tony Britten came about as a commission for an anthem based on “Zadok the Priest” by G.F. Handel. Britten was requested to write a similarly uplifting work, based on Handel’s Anthem, written for the coronation of King George II in 1727, as a “theme” for the UEFA Champions League.

Great piece and playing! I think Tony must have been inspired by Handel. I don't think Handel would have minded. He was after all 'inspired' by many composers!

I was confused at first: Was UEFA actually around when Britten was composing? And then I realized you didn't mean Benjamin. (But I looked them both up: BB could actually have composed for the UEFA.)

I'm not convinced by this piano version--prefer the one we get before the footy, with the choir!
