One good thing about being older is that nobody expects you to keep up with trends. Also, after years of trial and error you have worked out what kind of makeup looks and products work for you. I still have fun with makeup but I’ve pretty much locked in my day-to-day style after having tried pretty much everything over almost thirty years of wearing makeup and seeing hundreds of trends come and go. I do most things the same whenever I do makeup but will sometimes try a new lip colour or eyeshadow look when I fancy a change. Having started in the ‘90’s when we just put a thick layer of foundation on with lipstick and eyeshadow, and gone through the contour/ highlighter obsession of the 2010s as well as seeing bullet lipstick give way to gloopy gloss then matte liquid lipstick, I’m able to pick the bits from each era that work for me and not care about what the current look is.
