So many of us are worried about asking for help, especially when it comes to helping with our mental health. A stigma is attached. Questions like 'what's wrong with her?' or "why can't he handle it?' crop up. That's the worry, at least.

When it comes to medical health professionals, there are several layers to this issue. If a doctor or nurse admits to seeing a mental health professional, they could be red-flagged. Peers might question them. Other clinicians could lose faith in them.

For a doctor in Manhattan, Dr. Lorna Breen, battling COVID-19 in the hottest hotspots along with those questions and that stigma, it all became too much for her to handle.

But now, Lorna and her story have become the catalyst for a movement for change. A change would make it okay to get help when help is needed.

I remember learning about this tragedy. I felt so sad for Dr. Breen I wished it wasn't true. I have survived depression almost all my life but I can't take it for granted, nor do I take for granted anyone's mental health. I am greatly pleased that this foundation has been created in her honor.
