As someone from the U.S., yes, a lot of us know our quality of life is shit. Yes, we DO wish we had social programs like yours. No, we don't have the power to change it anytime soon. No, a lot of us don't have the money to "just move". A lot of average Americans aren't stupid, they're just stuck and struggling.

We are glad to have such a bubbly person appreciate this great country.
You’ve obviously matched the vibe we have going on. ❤

The USA doesn't spend enough money on social services. Glad to have you here, Brooke x

The reason we don't have alleyways full of homeless people in Sydney is because of our "move on direction" laws! The police will literally arrest them if they stay...
*edit: go to woolloomoolooor town hall Woolworths, that's where they get moved along to

Heading that way unfortunately... We are becoming America, it's so sad that Australia has lost its identity!!

I recently spent 3 months in the US. The homelessness in the US is largely (not totally) down to drug use, then there is a percentage of disabled (physically or mentally or both) AND what I call “the walking wounded” those people who cannot function in that society (every society has them, people born in the wrong place or time or both).

Its a safe country and a good place to live comparatively to most other places in the world. Ive lived overseas and travelled a good bit and this is a special place to be. The biggest problem here is people compare Australia to perfect. No place is perfect, you have only the choice of here or another “real”country when you compare. Too many people in Australia poke holes in Australia when comparing it to their imagined country or the week they spent somewhere on holiday 🤦‍♂️
We are truly the lucky country ❤

when i was younger i visited america and was shocked at all the homeless people as i had rarely seen them in my australian city. except now cost of living is so out of control here there are massive tent cities in local parks, unhoused people on every street corner, plenty of people living in their cars and couch surfing who are effectively homeless too. and a lot of us are worried with just one rent increase we could be next... it's really sad

Fun fact; apparently a WTO report has shown that countries with a constitutional monarchy have a higher standard of living than republican countries.
