It amazes me the amount of information that you fit into a video that is less than 12 minutes. NTFS permissions can get pretty complex and you did an excellent job of explaining the basics.

The popularity of this video isn't by accident. First, good audio quality and clean vocal. 2nd, you knew your stuff or planned it out, & 3. You had it perfectly timed and edited to 11:11 ❤. I needed this video to prevent the people in my house from breaching in my pc/phone through all sorts of methods. I've tried a lot, but there's too many settings I can't change them all before they stalk and breach in.

Thanks Brian, truly awesome, I've always struggled getting to grips with permissions and your video has explained the process with ease, cheers mate, keep up with your sterling work, I have learnt so much from your channel over the years and always appreciate video content and look forward to learning even more. If you get chance, could you possibly show how we can have network connection in safe mode because in Windows 10 we could but for some Microsoft reason we can't in Windows 11?

Thanks Brian.
Sally sure gets around, she's on my pc too. I'd caution against giving her full admin permissions.

hi britec tell me this is now on one machine right? now how do I give certain users access to certain folders over the same network from their computers as I do not like the everyone object plus I don't like to utilize another pc to install freenas....so if I have 3 users on the same network how do I make sure they have access to their own folders and not trying to fish what's not meant for their eyes....if you can help with that or have a link that'll help?

Thanks for a great video. I have 3 computers, two with Windows 10 home, and one with Windows 11 home. I can't access one of the W10 computers from the W11. I"ll see about following your clearly stated steps. I don't know what differences there are between the settings in both W10 computers to cause one to have access from W11 and not the other. I can access from the W 11 from both, I think, W10 computers. Any ideas on why I might night be able to access the one W10 from the W11 computer?

Great explanation, thanks. May I ask what ‘Deny’ is? Isn’t it the same as unchecking ‘Allow’?

If we configured modify permission on sub folder and write permission on parent folder then what is a resultant permission applied on sub folder ? (inheritance is enabled)

Great video. Two questions.
(1) What's the difference between leaving a permission blank vs "Deny"?
(2) Does providing admin password to perform one operation e.g. write or execute in a folder, compromise the entire system or will an app requesting access be able to perform only that operation? Example, I have a malicious app that runs under UserX account. App wants to access folder Y, but UserX cannot access folder Y nor can it access folder Z. So I type in admin password when prompted to allow access to folderY for UserX. Will the malicious app be able to do malicious things only in folder Y or will it also be able to access folder Z?
