They've nailed the booster part but the ship itself seems to have gotten worse. Hope they can trawl through the data and find the root cause, get it fixed for flight 9 :)

The starship spins like in the movie Intesteller.

So cool how you could see the lox fuel level going up and down as ship went into a spin, it might have been sloshing without like crazy lol

No progress can be made without there being a failure or two every now and then. I support and will continue to support Space X and their endeavors to move mankind forward in our intellectual evolution. Keep flying Space X!

Have a look at the screen in the top left at 11:20 and you can see the engines explode.

Failure is not the opposite of success, it is part of success! Well done to all the team for their dedication and look forward to next launch 🥰

Sorry for SpaceX team and we hope next flight will be the good one. Anyway, as we say.in France "Rome ne s'est pas faite en un jour". At least boster landing seems to be a routine now 😊

A small step for a man like Musk, a huge leap backwards for bananas.

Some of these comments are ridiculous !!! Years ago people thought the idea of landing and re-using a rocket booster was science fiction and not something that could be done. Space X now performs this feat so often that people forget just how much engineering went into making it a reality. They now have landed a 20 story plus booster with a pair of chopsticks 3 times in 4 attempts. Sounds like progress to me ?

Space X NEEDS to get quality control back nuts and bolts and correct prices in right places 2 or 3 times. A fuel line or wire check from the start to end...then these problem will stop. Work even if it takes extra time weeks. GOD BLESS❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I'm very dissatisfied with some of the comments on this site, maybe space is better without some people. I am in the UK and have no interest in US politics, I am however deeply into space flight. I am old enough to have watched all of the televised and film recorded launches from Al Sheppard onwards. The successful conquest of space is very important for mankind. We had thirty years of benefit from the Gemini & Apollo programs, when engineers where in charge not bean counters, and will undoubtedly benefit from the current programs. Thus I say ignore the politicians and support your engineers. we get the sort of people in power that we allow to be there.

8:05 you can see a chunk of the r-vac being burned off

I noticed the trajectory has been optimized on this flight. BECO occurred lower, and the booster carried the v2 ship ~300 kph more than on flight 7. The booster’s max altitude was also lower than flight 7.

Correction: it was about 150-200 faster

These rockets were probably busy writing down 5 things they did last week and got distracted..

Flight 8 was like a brand new rocket. It had a redone nose fins and was using a handful of new heat shields. Also there was a spot with no heat shields. This went as planned for the most part.

Is the fuel obviously sloshing in the tanks to explain why it's jumping from empty to full on each rotation? Guessing this also explains video feed cutting in and out roughly in sync with rotation.

Yall are doing amazing things and accidents happen. Just part of the journey.

6:57 that camera angle seriously scared the hell out of me, thought it tilted sideways and was going to crash
