Road To Cheltenham returns for another series and the focus is on the staying chasers for the first show, as Lydia Hislop and Ruby Walsh look back on the victory of Gentlemansgame (and defeat of Bravemansgame) in the Bet365 Charlie Hall Chase and a winning comeback at Down Royal for Gerri Colombe.

They introduce the viewers to the 'Lengths Gained' model from RaceiQ that will be appearing throughout the series and also unpick the current picture for the Mrs Paddy Power Mares Chase.

Willie Mullins has a consistent flow of top class horses, the majority of his best are young 4-5-6 year olds and the shear amount that disappear through injury and soon to be forgotten is unforgivable, I can’t help but think they are being brought on too early, clearly they are capable at that age but it shows there body doesn’t have the maturity to substain it, it’s great to see the talent but like Ruby says, there not super stars unless they sustain it add to that the quality of life for the animal having had his best years dead and buried by seven, it’s something that racing will take a battering for at some point I’m sure.
