Seeing this reminds me of what beauty snow can be. Beautiful but dangerous.

Andre! I live 5-10 miles outside of New Orleans and let me say, the snow was the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!! If you were to tell any Southern Louisianan we were going to have a blizzard, they’d probably ask if you had one too many on Bourbon Street and need to sit down. I’m 37 and the most snow we have ever had, was MAYBE 2 inches. The other day, in my yard, I had 11 inches of snow! It was even going into the back of my tall boots, it was deep. This has never ever ever ever ever happened . It was like Home Alone, when the thieves were breaking in and the snow was everywhere! It was so fun. It was damn near magical. We even had snow flurries for hours. It’s melting now and I’m very sad about it. The crazy Cajuns here in Louisiana will never witness this again. The last time it snowed here this much was in the late 1890s, so definitely once in a lifetime. Best. Day. Ever.

I do want to remind the world that the northern half of the country deals with this for months. Pipes freezing, fatal car accidents, losing electricity. It is worse in the south due to the lack of winter infrastructure, but its just as deadly if not more.

I am in North Florida and we are freezing. I ran out of fuel on Wednesday and can't a refill until Monday. I am staying in one room with a small heater. I feel bad for the people living in tents with snow in North Caronia. I am blessed.

No, the Gulf of Mexico is still the same name, even if some strange person says otherwise. I’m in Houston, Texas, (on the Gulf of Mexico), and we got 5” of snow. 😮 It was beautiful, but Texans aren’t used to this type of cold, snow, and ice. We survived by staying off the roads, like many Texans did.

Living near Birmingham, Alabama and working as a public school teacher. On Monday night on our school group-chat we learned we would have a regular work day because the snow would pass to the south of us. A colleague shared a funny post - "Have any of us in our lifetime ever said we were too far north to get hit by a snowstorm?" (Same latitude as Portugal's south coast).

Hello from Minnesota! Yes, cold can kill a battery, but it hasn't gotten that cold down there. Now, if you had days when it didn't get above 10ºF/-12ºC, that would see batteries die off.

In the south, when we have snow, we are mostly concerned about survival and missing work and school. We sometimes forget how magical snow is. I have enjoyed watching it through your eyes and enthusiasm.

I live in New Orleans. We occasionally have a dusting of snow in the winter, even had a few inches once back in the 1960s. But this winter we've gotten 10 INCHES of snow! The city shut down for 3 days!

I live near New Orleans and this was the first snow storm I’ve witnessed in my 32 years of life.

It was beautiful and my family loved the snow. We failed at our snowman but it was nice man. Love the video!

Louisiana had its first EVER blizzard warning 2 days ago! I was born in NOLA so it's very special to me!!! Now I'm in NW Mississippi which had 7 inches last week! That snow caused my back porch roof to collapse from the weight and it's blocking my back door! Only one way out of my house right now unless I want to hop out a window and, at 72, I don't think that's gonna happen! LOL Been to a few New Orleans Saints' football games in that Superdome! That's also where I saw The Rolling Stones in 1977! Great place with lots of great memories! It's official ... the world has turned UPSIDE There was only 1 degree of temperature difference between New Orleans and Anchorage, Alaska! They're more than likely to be eating Gumbo (preferably Seafood) and Red Beans and Rice!!! Good, Warm comfort food!

I live about 45 minutes north of New Orleans across Lake Pontchartrain, and we got 8-9" on Tuesday. I'm 66, and a lifelong New Orleanian, and this is the most snow I have ever seen here. The last time we had a significant snowfall was 1963 - I was 5. I still vividly remember going out with my Mom and playing in the snow for the first time. The lady with the large dog was correct - her child will remember this after she's gone.
