What's this? HORNBY 'The Manxman' Train Pack | R2347M British Railways Locomotive & Coaches

In this video we take a look at a Hornby Limited Edition train pack "The Manxman". This is a boxed set of the locomotive "CAERNARVON" along with 3 coaches.
I'll review the models in detail, see if we can get the locomotive working and then recommend if you should consider this set for your collection or not.

The number on the side of the cab, 6P, is the power classification. The shed code is on the smokebox; 8A is Edge Hill.

Some of these Hornby Train Packs were quite nice in the day I remember buying the "Rare Bird" train pack and really liked it.
Sort of a pity that they dont really do that sort of thing much anymore.

This is one of those occasions where both the tender & coaches are more detailed than the loco.

Hornby seemed to have got the green livery more prototypcal on this loco than on many.

Just a note: Caernar(v/f)on is a Welsh castle where King Charles was invested as Prince of Wales in 1969. I was surprised to see this name on an ex-LMS loco, as the GWR is more associated with Castle-named locos.
