A turquoise skull from the Tomb 7 archeological site, Monte Alban, Oaxaca, Mexico.
The turquoise was glued on with resin composed of copal and amaranth seeds.
The skull is known to be a Mixtec ritual object, representing Mictlantecuhtli or the “Lord of the Underworld”. [Post-Classical period 1250-1521]
