Hollow Knight is a metroidvania game, which has a power-up system called: charms. These when equipped give you a small power-up. This video is a little skit, that is about how almost every player using the wayward compass in combat even though it's useless in combat

My load out when fighting bosses is shaman stone, spell twister, soul catcher and grub song or get rid of soul catcher and grub song for mark of pride

Also if you have one notch left you can continuously hit a charm worth more than 1 until it stays. Each hit you take is double damage but hey! You get to use the charm you wanted!
