Plasterboard partitions, also known as gypsum laminated walls, are a popular solution for interior construction and renovation. These systems involve placing plasterboard sheets on a fixed metal structure, creating a new wall or covering an existing one.

One of the main advantages of plasterboard partitions is their versatility. They can be used to create space divisions, add acoustic and thermal insulation, conceal electrical and plumbing installations, and provide a smooth and uniform finish to walls and ceilings. Additionally, their installation is quick and clean, as they do not require heavy or wet materials like cement.

Another advantage of plasterboard partitions is their fire resistance. The plasterboard sheets consist of a gypsum core covered with cellulose paper, giving them high strength and durability. Moreover, there are specific fire-resistant boards available that meet safety requirements in buildings and public spaces.

Although installing plasterboard partitions is relatively straightforward, it's essential to have qualified professionals to ensure proper placement and fixing of the metal structure and plasterboard sheets. Additionally, choosing the appropriate type of plasterboard is crucial based on the space's needs and intended use.

In summary, plasterboard partitions are a practical and versatile solution for interior construction and renovation, offering a wide range of possibilities and advantages in terms of insulation, safety, and finishes.

As someone who is a drywall finisher for 20 + years. There's a way to do a California/hot patch, and there's a way not to. #1) that mud is too pissy for a ceiling. If it's thicker it won't sag as much( that's why you can still see green after he coated it). He actually creates a hump that will need to be floated out. 2nd) square up the hole. Squares are easier, faster and more accurate for a tighter fit and less potential for sagging. 3rd) peeling the face paper on the ceiling is a wasted step. Won't make the patch sit any better....if its sagging. Peace, love and hot mud👍

10 years from now, an electrician is going to charge you $500 to figure out why 3 of your bedroom lights aren't working.

Use a holesaw bigger than the hole on scrap, use this piece as a guide to make the hole in the ceiling bigger. Finally, use the leftover round piece to fit the ceiling hole perfectly. You can use a wood plank inside to fasten it with screws. Zero sagging, result garanteed and 5x times faster.

Don’t bury wire connections. That really needs to be in a junction box with a cover.

The patch: acceptable
The bare wires with exposed wire nuts: inexcusable

As a pro renter for 20 years. You're supposed to fill the hole with mud mixed, wonder why it dried in 10 minutes, sand it making sure to leave lumps for texture, say "the paint will convert the flaws, paint it the wrong white, stand in front of it during inspection, and ask for your deposit back.

Never heard so many drywall experts in my life argue about a simple patch truth is it don’t really matter as long as your a good finisher floating it out is the key and a good sanding block and matching the texture is the most important thing

Dude, just throw some timber in there, cut it square, and add the gyprock. It's a few extra mins, and it'll be a good job, not a hack job.

Exposed paper will blister under mud. Primer first, then this hack will kinda work.

Finally someone shows how to do a hot patch. It’s the best trick I ever learned. And yes they are strong and permanent. And work great in a crowded space with pipes or wires right behind the drywall.

I can guarantee you that as soon as you put the joint compound over the installed patch, it's going to want to sag. You have to wait for that initial joint compound to dry before adding that second coat. Now he is going to have to add another coat on top of that and wider in order to sand it as close to flush as possible. Word of the wise! (By the way, I would have cut that round hole into a square first)

Perfect fix. On the ceiling. No one will be touching it. No one will be drilling into it. Perfect job. Everyone who says otherwise clearly is ignorant to drywall repairs. That patch isn’t for everywhere. But random patch in ceiling. Easiest and most time efficient patch. Well done sir.

Looks a lot harder than the traditional method of squaring the hole, screwing in a wood slat inside the hole for a backstop, screwing a square piece of drywall to the wood slat, then mudding the seems. But to each his own.
