I feel like with Ark 2, it will be more plotted and have more of a story than the original Ark. Yes, Ark Survival Evolved does have a storyline, but it has ALOT of space and freedom. That's why I love it so much. With this new Ark, it seems as you play as Vin Diesel and you get more of a storyline too follow and be able to, how can I word it...Know your character better. I feel like Ark 2 would give me the same feels Horzion Zero Dawn did. It gave us freedom yes, but also a storyline, and background, and a memorable character.
Another thing Studio Wildcard announced was that Ark will get it's over animated series!! Not much information has come out with it yet, other than itll probably come out in 2022.
