I don't know why there are so many reviews out there where the player doing the demonstration has to have distortion on all the time. I want to hear it clean. Take a lead from Mark Lucas at N'Stuff Music or Greg Koch at Wildwood. They run their demo's on clean and distorted in each setting.

I've had many Tele and Strat guitars over the last 35 years. Many good, and it's all about having it in your hands. I find the action on many Fenders to be flatter, quicker. ASAT has big frets, look is T style but handling is very different. Beautifully built, more custom than a US standard Fender. Better build quality. My opinion.

For me nothing to complain about, the sound is in line of what i am looking for full, fat and body, the guitar is a real good buy!

That Goodsell is one of the most underated amps on the market today. Great sounds clean and overdriven.

I actually traded this guitar for a PRS S2 Villa, and got a little cash on the deal too because of that ash body it had a beautiful paint job. Either way I have to say I loved this guitar until I found that PRS the fatter neck, thicker piece of rosewood, the mahogany body, the charm Bluey And jazz tones you can get as well as heavier rock tones without the body farting out or giving you that bad buzz that this one does truly great guitar considerate man trip. I loved this guitar for a very long time. Thanks I’ve had three of them lol and of course a couple of S3 35s but I love the telly style semi Hollow and just fell in love with that PRS, thanks again for this great demo though I appreciate your time and just thought I would tell you about it. Have a great rest of your evening or day or whatever time you get this message lol. Merry Christmas just scoping around.

is there any sense in playing with distortion when we want to hear it clean?

Shawn, your DA MAN! Love your editiorials by the way in each PG. You are straight forward, don't hold back, and deliver truthful commentaries. I own three G&L (S500 / Bluesboy Classic / Asat Special) and three Fenders. Quality wise, G&L ranks right up their with the Fender Custom Shop in my humble opinion. Don';t get me wrong, I will always be a Fender man. I believe if Leo were alive today, G&L would be played by a lot more people.

G&L instruments are the best Leo Fender ever made.

I was very surprised to find no actual Fender Tele's with this finish... it's so beautiful.

to get a true sound of a guitar you need to start out with a clean setting on the amp, then moderate distortion with a slight breakup, then heavier distortion.

This may have me sold on this guitar. Great review. Sounds better than a tele imo!

So add six saddles (good idea) but still keep the ash tray bridge with the slice of metal that is a remnant of the bridge cover that the original guitars had (that it's not sold with), that digs into your playing hand.

Can't we all just get along??

I think that if you love Fender then you'll dig G&L too. I have the Commanche and love it. It has become my go-to guitar and I'm looking to get an ASAT now too.
The quality is very good, even in their Tribute series.

I recently picked up the identical guitar to this. Loved it so much Bought a Bluesboy American. Honestly I like the Tribute better, regardless of being ¼ the price. I took the American ASAT Bluesboy back for refund. Who knew, I crazily figure if the Tribute was so good, the American had to be way better. Not So.

I just had a transparent- blonde Bluesboy custom made. G&L (USA made) is so much higher quality than a production Fender Tele. I got locking tuners, 3 ply pearl pickguard, 71/2" vintage C #2 hard-rock maple neck, 6 saddle bridge & the upper-end hardshell for $1560. A Fender Custom Tele is about $3200 & Tele production is around $1K.. Very pleased with my decision. I also have a Goodsell MK2 which has EL-84s tubes (chimey and buttery) just like in this video. Very nice gtr/amp combo.

I guess I missed the point. Saying that the Humbucker in the neck doesn't have that "Tele twang" is a moot point. This guitar is not designed to be a traditional tele. It is it's own beast and played through a Fender (yes, one of Leo's) with a touch of reverb and tremolo they sound as sweet and or vicious as anyone would like.
Your playing was ok, but a poor amp choice and trying to shoe horn the Bluesboy into the "Tele" box didn't help.
