How to BLEED BRAKES by one person

this video explains how to bleed brakes by yourself on a non ABS car. Learn one man brake bleed method and learn how to fix brakes on a car. All the steps have been clearly explained at my best and, if you're doing this on a car with ABS, make sure you pull out the ABS relay and fuse from the fuse box. Special thank goes to to my friend chris to help me making the video.

please note that there are some modern cars that requires a scan tool to complete the brake bleeding.

the magnet is to have the bottle in higher position than the bleeding valve to avoid air coming back to the system

I was worried when I first saw the WD40. However, relieved when I saw how you used it. Photography was good and clear and description was good apart from background noise. We can't always choose an ideal location though. I noted that you looped the tube down first to catch any solids and then up to release air bubbles. Thanks for your post and info. Cheers, Peter

Who clicked on this thinking he was using WD-40 to bleed the brakes?

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird to see these older vids now? Keep it up bud your editing has gotten light years better, but the knowledge has always been top notch like always

Is it necessary to remove ABS fuse before beginning to bleed/flush the brake fluid?

Great vlogs! Unusual, but my car had air in the ABS controller from factory. This bothered me for years and bleeding several times never got the air out of the ABS. You need a diagnostic scanner tool that exercises the ABS. The cheapest tool is " Foxwell NT630 Pro" for $110.

Some friendly advice, Put you bottle higher than your bleeder, as air rises and cant go back into the caliper this way.

If you remove most of the old fluid from the master cylinder supply reservoir and replace it with fresh before doing this, and start with the closest wheel to the master cylinder you will be immediately getting the most contaminated fluid out of the system . Doing this whenever you replace pads or bleed the brakes will make it unnecessafry to do a flush later.

I have one of these that I threw in the garbage. The bleeder screws on every vehicle I have will leak air around the threads up into your brakes when you release the brake pedal, unless you physically tighten the bleeder screw all the way down.

What am I missing that sure looked like dot 5 fluid coming out and showed dot 4 going in?? At least I thought dot 5 is purple.

So how do I know where to start bleedeing th fluid, I see some start with the furthest away from the reservoir and some start with the closet, how can I determine that?

You can never be sure that with this method you are not getting air around the nipple threads and between the nipple to plastic pipe. I always put a suitably tight O ring around the plastic pipe before slipping it on to the nipple.

my car battery went dead while bleeding my brakes. After i finished the brake flush, i jumped the engine but then immediately the check engine light turned on. I went to autozone and code ABS malfunction and traction off showed up on dash. Not knowing what to do, i removed from the battery then reconnect, check engine light turned off for now but for how long? car is fairly new

Pump the breaks slower, both down and release

The catch bottle needs a breather hole??

wouldn't pumping the brake pedal with the bleeder valve open cause brake fluid to move back and forth without really moving it into the bleeder bottle?

Do you turn on the car when you pump brake?

here's a better and cheaper way. go to a pet store that sells fish, buy a few of the clear water tubes in different diameters. then get a big bottle of water (be about a dollar or 2 if you don't like dumpster diving. go for a 1 liter or a bit bigger... empty the water to) drill a hole into the lid of the bottle and put one end the tube into the bottle all the way to the bottom. put a bit of brake fluid into the bottle so the end of the tube is submerged. that way it wont suck air into the line. and there you have it. a bigger cheaper version of this store bought crap :D
