This was beautifully done! Thanks for sharing - I followed Robert regularly on the Dragons Den in Canada, but lost track of him after he left the show. He's an inspiring guy and I'm glad to see he's still doing well :)

I watch Shark Tank and I always feel a little bad for Robert. He seems like the nicest guy in the room and so he gets knocked around a bit. That said what I like about his investment style (on the show anyway) is that if he's in unfamiliar territory there's very little ego involved. He won't got reaching for something he isn't sure he has a handle on, he won't try and outbid another shark for something that he has no expertise in and when that rare presentation comes up where it's on the nose in his wheelhouse he goes after it very aggressively. It makes it look like he's doing a lot less investing than the others (though I'd imagine Kevin does the last of everyone) but he tends to make quality deals in an area he can add value or at the very least to a product he's excited about.

If I had the chance to ask the man some questions I'd want to know what he thinks about North America from a social issues perspective. He talks a lot (even in this video) about what it takes to be an entrepreneur and what it takes to be successful but what I'm really interested in hearing from people like Robert is whether or not they can recognize the reality that not everyone can be successful and that in fact most people cannot. There is only so much room at the top and someone has to clean the toilets. I'm sure Robert knows this but as we as a species rapidly approach the Technological Singularity we have to consider the possibility that in a very short period of time human labor or all kinds will become valueless.

So when I see someone like Robert talking about hard work to become successful I become vary interested in where a man who is so successful already sees the toilet cleaners and the CEO's once there are machines that can do all of it better and faster? Is it a world where man uses his now limitless free time to pursue art and explore the universe or is it a world where the wealthy few enslave the poor and withhold the power of the singularity for themselves?

well.. I'm taken aback, I did not expect this level of sophistication in a 6-minute clip though reddit + Google could have clued me in... The production is fantastic and the content is quite gripping. I listened intently to every second and loved it ! This could be my new TED ! Loving it, thank you !

I love Robert. Being a proud Canadian, it's nice to see a capitalist with a heart, and that's an odd combo. He's business savy but doesn't feel detached from understanding the struggles of the middle and lower class.

The lack of ego that he has is remarkable. Even as successful as he is, he is still so human. Truly moving.
