Shawn McEachern fired a backhand that appeared to have beaten Buffalo Sabres goaltender Steve Shields, but it was not reviewed. Later in that overtime, Tom Chorske set up Daniel Alfredsson for the first playoff overtime goal in Ottawa Senators history, as the Sens beat the Sabres 1-0.
