P&G is a big position for me. And I finally bought into Visa this month. Cisco is a top 10 position in SCHD and top 25 in VIG, so I am not buying it individually. I don't own McDonald's or Starbucks, either. With $20 minimum wage in California and Gen Z struggling to survive I am staying out of ALL stocks in the restaurant industry. My teenage daughter thinks both places are for "old people" (anyone over 30).

All but CSCO get a big yes from me, CSCO is borderline. But if I were im retirement and had a large V position, I could see gradually selling out of it and moving the money to something with a higher yield or simply living off the money while continuing to drip stuff like PG and MCD.

I own Starbucks stock, but I agree that it’s Not a forever stock. What’s special about Starbucks? Branding and product placement created a cult following. That following could quickly die.

i like either HD or LOW either one..i think as a duopoly they will be around "forever"

Forever is a relative term! I’m not a forever stock either! 😂 They’re all strong, and will be around for 25 years more, probably! If any of them fall on hard times, they’ll be bought out by someone else. All have their own niche! The fact that they survived and thrived this long says a lot! Overpriced coffee never should have succeeded, but they have 30, 000+ locations! Apparently, they make a fortune on cold drinks, and their menu is a bit more complex than I knew. I’ve never been in a Starbucks, but I saw one of their breakfast sandwiches recently, and that thing looked tasty! 😂 All the stocks mentioned ain’t going anywhere soon!

I own MCD and SBUX and do think they are forever stocks. I do want PG and V,
CSCO on the other hand is a tech stock and that changes too fast and I have no idea.

MCD yup. It makes up 3.2% of my portfolio and is in the top dozen of my holdings. Absolutely P&G, my 4th largest holding, I don't own SBUX and with MCD on this list, I'd have to give it a pass as being a forever stock, so I'm with Bert on this one. Nope on Cisco.looking for a tech stock I'd look at MSFT as a forever hold. I don't own V, but would consider it a forever stock. It my retirement timeline wasn't in my rear view mirror, it would definitely be in my portfolio. You could also put JPM as a forever stock in the financial space. Other forever stocks could include KO, JNJ, LMT and O. Just my 2 cents. Great video guys, have a fantastic week.

Why no pharma stock? I would swap out SBUX with JNJ

Fun and interesting video! P&G might be my only forever stock on that list but that is only because forever is a long time! I'd say they all have long runways that could last my lifetime. But, my kids? My kids' kids? I'd more than hesitate. To me, I see that as the power of ETFs. They rebalance and you don't really need to think about it. Unless you really, really need money, I don't see why anyone would ever sell an ETF. That is your families forever!

Ooohh nice take on CSCO Bert! They definitely acquire more than innovate, didn’t think of it like that before. All five are great companies. Not sure any single company is a hold forever for me. The Vanguard trifecta you betcha, SCHD and other high quality ETFs are.

Visa, Amazon. Even in a horrible turn of global events or something in the US, those 2 will always be used by the consumer. Probably even more-so

As long as people are dumb enough to spend 7.00 for a crappie frappy ☕️ Starbucks will still be around. I'm not buying because I refuse expensive coffee.

You correctly defined how we should all classify "forever" stocks, and it needs to be in our own investment timeframe, to retirement and/or lifetime. In that context all five of these are likely to be "forever" stocks. The two most vulnerable to disappear in some foreseeable timeframe are SBUX and Cisco. I would also caution against depending on Visa lasting "forever." Technology is rapidly changing the landscape in financial matters, and as Burt said, credit/debit cards may be replaced and there is no guarantee that Visa won't be left behind.

I currently hold only PG from these and have MCD on my watch list. Have zero interest in the other three, short term, "forever" they don't meet my standards.

Is it better to invest in individual dividend stocks, or dividend etf like SCHD or VYM?
